WILLAIMS REMAINS UNDEFEATED & BRENT MOORE STARTS WITH A BANG

PhilBoxing.com

Williams records a majority draw in Brisbane last Friday and Brent Moore scored a round 1 TKO on debut at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

BRENT QUICK DRAW MOORE lived up to his fight name by outgunning Beau Holdsworth on the Gold Coast on Friday night.

The referee waved the bout away 1.52 into the first round handing Moore a TKO victory on debut.

It was an action packed bout while it lasted. Holdsworth applied the early pressure before Moore gained the upper hand scoring a knock down followed up by a flurry of punches resulting in the bout being stopped.

"It was a great performance by Brent," Trainer Steven Spark said.

"Beau Holdsworth had a lot of support down there and was primed for a big performance - he came out and was the aggressor early.

"I was so happy with Brent, he kept his composure, he never panicked and his defence was great.

"When he saw an opening he took advantage.

"He rocked Beau with a great left hook right hand combination then he followed that up with a flurry scoring a knock down.

"Beau beat the count and Brent jumped straight back on him and the referee had no alternative but to stop the bout.

"It was a great learning curve for Brent, he passed with flying colours and all credit to him - he put in the work and he got the result he deserved.

"He certainly made a statement on debut." Spark said.

Meanwhile on Friday night Sammy 'Shimmy Shimmy Whoosh' Williams kept his undefeated record in tact with a majority draw against James McDonald at Mansfield Tavern.

Williams career record is now 2 wins and 2 draws from four bouts.

"It was a great fight between Sammy and James," Steven Spark said.

"It went back and forth and both fighters had their moments in the bout.

"James was a good boxer and mover but Sammy stuck to the game plan and boxed smart.

"I felt Sammy did enough to get the nod but it was a very close fight.

"After the bout many people in the crowd and other boxing trainers and promoters said to me it was the fight of the night.

"Sammy always puts in lion hearted displays - this one was no different.

"I was really proud of both of our boys, Sammy and Brent on the weekend.

"I have no doubt they flew the Smithy's TGW gym flag with pride." Steven Spark said.

Brendon Smith, who manages both Willams and Moore was ecstatic with the performance of the team over the weekeend.

"I'm really happy for Brent and Sammy,' Smith said.

"Both boys are a pleasure to have in the gym, they both put the work in and deserve all the success they get.

"I'm also ecstatic for Stevie Spark, he works so hard with not only these two boys but all of our fighters.

"I've openly said he will be Australia's next top trainer, he's only eighteen years of age - he will get better and better as time goes on.

"I was also thrilled to see the support for both boys.

"You see Jack Asis and Joel Stower in Brisbane supporting Sammy Williams and then on Saturday night Sammy traveled to the Gold Coast to support Brent.

"Les Sherrington was also there in Brent's corner.

"It's the team spirit and camaraderie that makes Smithy's TGW gym so special.

"We celebrated the results over the weekend and now today it's back to business.

"Sammy and Brent are both possibilities to return to ring action on our big card on October 31," Smith said.
