POSTPONEMENT LOOMS FOR RACHMAN-CONDES FIGHT?
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Fri, 08 Jun 2007

The scheduled June 16 showdown between Filipino Florante Condes and IBF minimumweight kingpin Muhammad Rachman may have to be moved back a few days due to television and venue matters.
According to Indo Pos, an online news source, the new date will now by June 21 at the Indoor Tennis Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, or a new venue will be used also in Jakarta.
According to the report, promoter Albert Reinhard Papilaya had already informed Dr Tommy Halauwet of the Commission of Professional Sports in Indonesia of the postponement, although the IBF and the Condes camp have yet to be informed.
According to Halauwet, the reason cited for the postponement was the television outfit that will cover the fight.
Rachman's manager, Martinez Dos Santos, has stated he understands the reason of the postponement and accepted the new June 21 schedule as proposed by promoter Papilaya.
The notification to the IBF side and Condes management, according to Halauwet, will be carried out after the promoter makes good his promise to pay all the purses of the boxers.
"Hopefully, this promise is the last," said Rachman, who will be making a mandatory defense against Condes, when told of the postponement. Rachman stated that he had been having difficulties getting quality sparring partners for this fight due to financial reasons, as the organizers could not send him the promised training advances.
"We hoped that the promoter really settled all of his obligation, so the Rachman defense could be implemented," said Dr. Halauwet.
Team Condes was slated to fly to Jakarta on Monday, June 11, but should move their departure to a later date once informed of the postponement.
Condes, a devastating puncher, has already logged some 130 rounds of sparring in preparation for the Rachman fight.
