WILLIAMS AND MOORE FLY THE FLAG FOR SMITHY'S TGW GYM THIS WEEKEND

PhilBoxing.com

Williams to fight in Brisbane on Friday and Moore to debut on Saturday at the Gold Coast.

IT'S SET TO BE A BUSY and important weekend for Smithy's TGW Gym duo Sammy 'Shimmy Shimmy Whoosh' Williams and Brent 'Quick Draw' Moore.

Williams is set to take on James McDonald at the Mansfield Tavern on Friday night while Moore will make his professional debut against Beau Holdsworth on the Gold Coast on Saturday night.

Both boys will be cornered by Steven Spark.

"It's an exciting weekend I'm really looking forward to both Brent and Sammy fighting," Spark said.

"They both have tough jobs ahead of them, but i'm confident if both fight at their best they can have their hands raised at the end of the bout.

"Hopefully we pick up two wins over the weekend."

Sammy 'Shimmy Shimmy Whoosh' Williams steps into the ring for the fourth time (2-0-1) as a pro hoping to keep his undefeated record in tact.

James McDonald is a new comer to Queensland with his three previous bouts being held in New South Wales.

McDonald has a record of two wins and one loss.

Friday's bout will be contested at a 60 kilo limit over four rounds.

"I would like to thank Brendon Smith and Steven Spark for making this opportunity possible," Williams said.

"I feel I've done the work and hopefully that's good enough to get win another win on Friday night."

Steven Spark added: "Sammy is always in shape -he never leaves the gym, so he will be ready for this one."

"James McDonald has won his last two bouts and is now in the strong stable of Gareth Williams so he would've had some great sparring leading up to this one.

"However I'm confident 'Shimmy Shimmy Whoosh' Williams will ask plenty of questions of James McDonald."

Meanwhile Smithy's TGW gym newcomer Brent 'Quick Draw' Moore will make his professional debut at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday night against fellow debutante Beau Holdsworth over four rounds at middleweight.

Moore relocated to the garden city from Mackay in May pursuing the chance to turn pro.

"I moved here to fight as a professional, now I get my chance on Saturday night," Moore said.

"It's a great environment to train in and I've worked alongside Queensland champions, Australian Champions, Regional Champions and World Champions.

"A big thanks to my trainer Steven Spark who has put in so much work to get me here and to my manager Brendon Smith for all his work behind the scenes.

"I'm just thankful Stevie and Brendon have given me an opportunity to chase my dream.

"I will be doing my best on Saturday night," Moore said.

Steven Spark added: "Brent has been a pleasure to train."

"He has been so dedicated since day one, he hasn't missed a session either on the track or in the gym.

"He's given himself every chance to be successful on Saturday night.

"He's a talented fighter and I look forward to seeing his career progress," Spark said.
