ARUM SAYS MANNY PACQUIAO-SOTO FIGHT A POSSIBILITY

In what appears to be a changing situation from day to day Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says “it’s a pretty good possibility” that Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao will fight WBC No. 2 super featherweight Humberto Soto.
In an interview with Greg Leon of Boxing Talk, Arum said however “we are right now letting nature take its course” in obvious reference to the fact that Soto will first have to beat Pacquiao’s younger brother Bobby in an eagerly awaited bout at New York’s Madison Square Garden this Sunday, Manila Time.
Both the Pacquiao brothers and celebrated trainer Freddie Roach have expressed confidence that Pacquiao would beat Soto with Roach predicting a possible win by knockout.
Arum also revealed that Manny Pacquiao will not only be at ringside for the fight but will also do the commentary for European television which surprised quite a few fight fans because of Pacquiao’s lack of command of the English language.
Arum also disclosed that there were people from Vancouver who were arriving in New York since they were interested in staging Pacquiao’s next fight in Vancouver although he didn’t mention any names.
The Top Rank Promoter said Pacquiao has an October 6 fight date but may even fight in September which Pacquiao himself said sometime ago, he’d like to do. Arum claimed Pacquiao’s next fight could either be on Showtime or HBO but admitted he hadn’t committed to a date or either network.
