Sparks will fly July 17th as Biosse faces Chatman

PhilBoxing.com

CES kicks off the summer with the return of 'Mr. Providence' July 17th at Twin River Casino

LINCOLN, R.I. (June 30th, 2015) -- The snow is gone, our long, cold winter has ended, and summertime is finally here, which means CES Boxing is once again bringing the heat with an action-packed show guaranteed to push temperatures past their boiling point in the northeast.

Super middleweight Vladine Biosse (15-6-2, 7 KOs), known in his hometown as "Mr. Providence," returns to Rhode Island for the first time in more than a year on Friday, July 17th, 2015 when he faces the hard-hitting Chris Chatman (12-5-1, 5 KOs) of Jersey City, N.J., in the 10-round main event of "Rhode To Redemption" at Twin River Casino.

CES' mid-summer spectacular also features a dynamic, six-round welterweight co-feature between undefeated Nick DeLomba (7-0, 1 KO) of Cranston, R.I., and Union City, N.J., southpaw Juan Rodriguez Jr. (12-2, 5 KOs), plus the long-awaited return of unbeaten Worcester, Mass., junior middleweight Khiary Gray (7-0, 5 KOs) in a six-round bout.

Tickets for "Rhode To Redemption" are priced at $40.00, $100.00 and $125.00 (VIP) and available for purchase online at www.cesboxing.com or www.twinriver.com, by phone at 401-724-2253/2254 or at the Twin River Players Club. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

"This is how we envision boxing in the northeast," CES president Jimmy Burchfield Sr. said. "Competitive, evenly-matched fights that will have you talking before and after the final bell.

"Every fight on this card has the potential to be a showstopper. We're serious about keeping boxing alive in the northeast, and we only work with serious fighters who are willing to put it all on the line. We wouldn't have it any other way.

"This is the real beginning of the summer season! It doesn't start until that first bell rings on July 17th."

The Biosse-Chatman showdown has been almost three years in the making, a bout Chatman has lobbied for since beating hometown favorite Thomas Falowo in July of 2013. The 5-foot-8 southpaw returns to Twin River, where he owns a 3-2 record, for the second time in 2015 while Biosse is fighting in Rhode Island for the first time since a majority draw against Rich Gingras, coincidentally the same night of the aforementioned Chatman-Falowo bout.

It's a southpaw vs. southpaw main event; Biosse, a former defensive back for the University of Rhode Island football team, standing toe-to-toe with the always-entertaining Chatman, who has steadily moved up two weight classes to super middleweight since his Twin River debut in 2009 at 154 pounds against former Olympian Demetrius Andrade.

Chatman remained a fixture in Rhode Island with wins over Rahman Yusubov, Falowo and Grady Brewer, all of which earned him universal respect among New England's loyal fan base. He also challenged unbeaten super middleweight Angel Camacho Jr. in April.

Biosse's journey since the controversial draw against Gingras spanned the globe from New York to the United Kingdom, where he gained invaluable experience against elite competition. His long-awaited homecoming matches him against a fighter who has called Rhode Island his home for nearly a third of his career; this will be Chatman's sixth appearance at Twin River in his 19th professional bout.

The undercard of "Rhode To Redemption" features several regional rivalries, starting with a four-round junior middleweight bout between Harford, Conn., vet Joe Wilson Jr. (3-2) and Andy Gonzalez (1-0, 1 KO) of Worcester, Mass., and a four-round heavyweight rematch between Jean Pierre Augustin (4-0-1, 2 KOs) of Lawrence, Mass., and Solomon Maye (1-4-1, 1 KO) of New Haven, Conn. The two fought to a draw in April.

Also on the undercard, Framingham, Mass., super lightweight Julio Perez makes his pro debut against Boston's Rafael Francis (0-4) and New Bedford, Mass., welterweight Scott Sullivan (1-1, 1 KO) returns to face Providence's Angel Valdez (0-2), both four-round bouts. Providence heavyweight James Advincola, trained by former Olympian and Providence heavyweight Jason Estrada, makes his pro debut in a separate four-round bout.

In an added bonus, Estrada will be inducted into the CES Ring of Honor, capping a career in which he earned numerous accolades as an amateur, including his appearance in the 2004 Athens Games, and won 20 bouts as a professional.
