GILBERTO GONZALEZ TO TAKE ON NEW OPPONENT HEVINSON HERRERA IN THE MAIN EVENT FOR JULY 2 LA FIGHT CLUB LIVE ON FOX DEPORTES PhilBoxing.com Wed, 01 Jul 2015 LOS ANGELES (June 30) - Kicking off the Fourth of July holiday weekend, LA FIGHT CLUB is sure to provide fireworks the ring at the historic Belasco Theater for the July 2 edition of the fan-favorite fight series in downtown Los Angeles. Due to illness, previously scheduled main event fighter John Karl Sosa has pulled out of the July 2 bout and in his place Mexico City's Gilberto "El Flaco" Gonzalez (25-3, 20 KOs) will now face Hevinson Herrera (17-10-1 11 KOs) of Barranquilla, Colombia for a 10-round super lightweight bout airing live on FOX Deportes. Rising star and undefeated fighter Diego De La Hoya (10-0, 6 KOs) of Mexicali, Mexico is set to take on Jose "Hollywood" Estrella (14-6-1, 10 KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico for the co-main event, and Oscar "Jaguar" Negrete (10-0, 3 KOs) will fight Ramiro "Zurdo" Robles (12-3-1, 6 KOs) of Guanajuato, Mexico in an eight-round bout to open up the telecast on FOX Deportes. Trying to make airtime and making his second appearance at LA FIGHT CLUB, Melsik Baghdasaryan (1-0, 1 KO) of Glendale, Calif. will take on Abraham Calderon (0-1) of Los Angeles in a four-round welterweight TV swing bout. As a special treat for fans and ticket holders for the July 2 LA FIGHT CLUB, Abraham "Chamaco" Lopez and Roy "Pitbull" Tapia will be in attendance and meet with fans prior to the televised bouts from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Lopez and Tapia will return to the Belasco Theater as featured fighters for the August 6 edition of LA FIGHT CLUB. Fans with tickets to the event will have an opportunity to meet the fighters at the Corona banner at the front entrance, and take pictures with the fighters and Corona Ring Card Models. Tickets for the July 2 edition of LA FIGHT CLUB are on sale now. Doors open at 5:00 p.m., and the first bout begins at 5:30 p.m. The FOX Deportes broadcast will air live at 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT. The LA FIGHT CLUB is a monthly boxing series that takes place on the first Thursday of each month with the next installment scheduled for August 6. The boxing ring will be set on the main floor of The Belasco Theater with on-camera standing room for fans in front of the ring similar to a concert pit, as well as reserved balcony and floor seats. Los Angeles' own DJ Ray of Big Boy's Neighborhood will spin music during the fights and fans will be able to dance and mingle with the fighters when the venue converts into a night club, in a VIP experience not matched by any promoter in the industry.
