ALA GYM TO BRANCH OUT IN THE U.S!
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Sat, 12 May 2007
In an exclusive interview in Las Vegas recently, Filipino trainer Edito Villamor informed that the ALA Boxing Gym will soon branch out by putting up a gym either in Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
"The Aldeguer sons are very keen on having a gym in the US. It will be located either in LA or Vegas. Although I think LA would be a better choice," informed Villamor in a recent interview at the Las Vegas residence of cutman Tony Martin, who worked the corner of Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista and AJ 'Bazooka' Banal.
Yesterday, at a press conference for the two fighters hosted by the Cebu City Marriott Hotel, the ALA Boys' manager Michael Aldeguer confirmed the news when asked by this writer about plans of putting up a gym in the US.
"That is something we are seriously considering. We will definitely do that in the next few years," said the youthful Aldeguer, who is slowly taking over the reins of the ALA Gym from his well-loved father Antonio L. Aldeguer (ALA).
Villamor stated that due to the dearth of quality sparring partners in Las Vegas, putting up a gym in Los Angeles would be more reasonable, while also pointing out that they have better support group in Los Angeles compared to the Sin City.
