19-YEAR-OLD TWINS FROM ARAKAN IMPRESS DAVAO CITY BOXING FANS By Manny Piñol PhilBoxing.com Sun, 12 Oct 2014 Twin brothers Jake and Jade Bornea, perhaps the first boxing twins in Philippine boxing, impressed Davao City boxing fans including City Mayor Rody Duterte as they breezed past their opponents during a long boxing night at the Almendras Gymansium in Davao City last night. The identical twins, whose parents are from Arakan town in North Cotabato, both lefthanded who could easily switch to the righthand stance, displayed outstanding boxing skills even at a young age of 19. Jade, who turned professional last night, scored a first round TKO over his opponent who he simply outclassed displaying movements of a fighter belying his age. His twin brother Jake, who turned pro earlier, scored his 8th win in 9 professional fights in a similar skillful fashion. The twins were among the 28 boxers who appeared in The Boxing Revolution II, a project of Sonshine Sports Management which is being supported by religious leader Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy. In the three main events, IBO Junior Flyweight champion Rey "The Hitman" Loreto, fighting in his home city for the first time since leaving Davao as a 4-round fighter six years ago, stopped Indonesian Heri Amol in the 7th round. Former IBO Superflyweight Champion Edrin "The Sting" Dapudong displayed an impressive performance against a game and tough Wisanlek Sithsaithong of Thailand scoring a 5th round TKO. Denver "The Excitement" Cuello, making his first return to the ring following a rotator cuff injury suffered in his failed world title fight 14 months ago, simply outclassed a game Jaipetch Chaiyongym notching a 7th round TKO. http://sonshinesports.com/twin-brothers-boxing/ Photo: Jake (R) and Jade (L) Bornea are being introduced by Sonshine Sports CEO Manny Pinol (C) during Saturday night's boxing even at the Almedras Gym in Davao City.
