Ronda Rousey KO?s Sara McMann in Round 1 at UFC 170

As the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi comes to a close, two former Olympic medal winners continued the tradition of the games, this time in the dangerous world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women?s bantamweight champion and Olympic bronze medalist (judo) Ronda Rousey successfully defended her belt when she stopped Sara McMann, a silver medalist in wrestling, in 66 seconds of their championship match Saturday night.
Rousey, (9-0) delivered a debilitating knee to the body of McMann (7-1) which ended their match in the octagon at The Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Both fighters exchanged punches, elbows and knees against each other, both successful at times with their strikes. Rousey then attempted to take the fight to the ground, but McMann defended Rousey?s intent of a takedown.
Rousey then unleashed a knee strike to the torso of her opponent and McMann fell to the ground in pain as Rousey threw punches on her.
Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight after seeing a defenseless McMann in the canvass.
This is Rousey?s third defense of her crow and the eight 1st round win of her 9 fight pro MMA career, but this one that did not come by her signature armbar move. Criticized by her dependence on her judo, the American MMA superstar showed another facet of her game with her striking skills.
Rousey?s fete was also the fastest scored stoppage in the women?s bantamweight division of the UFC, proving Saturday night that she is the queen of the octagon.
