Ronda Rousey and Sara McMann make weight for historic UFC 170 meeting
By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sat, 22 Feb 2014

Mixed Martial Arts superstar Ronda Rousey and challenger, Sara Mcmann both made the 135 pound bantamweight weight limit for their title fight Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rousey (8-0) the current Ultimate Fighting Championship women?s bantamweight champ will defend her belt for a third time against a fellow unbeaten fighter in McMann (7-0) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
Both fighters not only share a perfect record in the octagon, both also are Olympic medal winners in the past.
Rousey,27, won the bronze in women?s judo at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , China , making her the first American to win an Olympic medal in the event.
McMann, 33, also wrote history in the Olympic Games, when she became the first female American to receive a silver medal in Olympic wrestling at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.
Both accomplished fighters will write history again, this time in professional Mixed Martial Arts. This will be the first time that two Olympic medal winners will contend for a title.
?I think it is an amazing historic event for the U.F.C. It?s not two guys fighting that you found at the back of the bar. These are the best athletes that you can find in the entire world fighting for the biggest title in the entire world and this is huge for everyone.? Rousey stated in a packed weigh-in event Friday at The Mandalay Bay.
McMann agrees with her counterpart as both vie for the coveted UFC gold.
?This is going to be the best women?s fight that the UFC has ever had.? McMann said.
Rousey and McMann will headline UFC 170, which will be offered via Pay-Per-View in the United States.
