UFC Fighter Sam "Hands of Stone" Stout Interview and Fight Prediction - He's a Big Manny Pacquiao Fan

PhilBoxing.com

Sam "Hands of Stone" Stout is a highly regarded Canadian UFC fighter who hails from London, Ontario. He is definitely one of the more popular fighters in the 155 lb lightweight division whose every fight in the Octagon has been a crowd pleaser due to his high adrenalin performances that comes along with his iron chin.

Right before the network broadcast of UFC's Fight Night 24, this writer had the opportunity to interview Sam Stout regarding his career track in the UFC. As we talked about his stand up striking, we pondered in casual conversation about boxing and discovered the "Hands of Stone" cheers only for one boxer alone and that boxer is Manny "The Pacman" Pacquiao.

Caught by surprise this writer was a little bit skeptic and was caught off guard as the main focus with Stout's interview was regarding MMA alone. More questions were asked regarding Stout's knowledge of other boxers, his main focal point in boxing was really Manny Pacquaio. Stout's knowledge of other boxers was limited to the opponents that Manny Pacquiao fought and the events that surrounded the pound for pound king.

The one on one interview quickly shifted to boxing and Manny Pacquiao as this writer quickly recognized the detail of Stout's opinions and expertise as a professional fighter himself, that another serious PacFan was face to face with this writer and it takes one to know one.

Robert Cruz: Manny Pacquiao is fighting Shane Mosley one week after UFC129 in Toronto, what is your prediction for this this fight?

Sam Stout: I think Pacquiao takes it, training under Freddie Roach has trained him into an animal and he's always had the power, he's always had the aggression and he's always had the heart. Coupled with a trainer like Freddie Roach who is such a smart trainer and I think they have a great relationship together. Sugar Shane is amazing but I just don't think he can keep up with the speed and power of Manny Pacquaio.

RC: What do you think about Mayweather and Pacquiao, is that fight ever going to happen?

SS: I think Mayweather is scared to do it, if Mayweather really wanted to prove himself to be as great as he said he is, he would fight Pacquaio, he wouldn't make excuses. Demanding that Olympic testing thing that he (Mayweather) is trying to pull is a cop out.

RC: When you fight yourself with your striking and boxing, does Manny's style inspire you and do you bring that style of fighting into the Octagon?

SS: Definitely!! you know, a guy like Manny Pacquiao, you could see a guy who's just born to fight. He is one of those guys who has his whole heart in it, his whole soul is in it and he's just amazing to watch.

RC: When did you first learn and started watching Manny Pacquiao?

SS: I remember seeing Pacquaio back in the day and saw how hard he was hitting guys and to see him now to see how more technical he has become and how much more smarter of a fighter he is now. To watch him progress, it's been a really cool thing to watch.

RC: Which is your favorite Manny Pacquiao fight?

SS: I would have to say the last one against Margarito, he was up against a bigger and stronger opponent, he just out boxed him and made him (Margarito) look like an amateur.

RC: You mentioned that Freddie Roach is such a great trainer, is training with him something you would like to do at the Wildcard Gym.

SS: It would be such an honor to train under a coach such as Freddie Roach.

RC: Any words in closing you want to say.

SS: I want to thank Jakt Apparel for bringing me out here, I want to thank The Adrenalin Training Center, The Tap Out Training Center in Las Vegas, all my training partners and all my fans.

Stout's professional record is 16W-6L-1D, don't let the 6 losses fool you because if he was given the chance to fight any of the 10 Top lightweights in the UFC right now, it is highly likely that Stout take the fight into deep waters and finish the fight standing up what ever the outcome maybe.

Cross-over fight fans who follow both Boxing and MMA, if you haven't seen Sam "The Hands of Stone" Stout fight before, he is surely an exciting fighter to watch. Just in case you might not like to watch MMA, fighters like Sam Stout is the type of fighter inside and outside the Octagon that takes it to another level and may just get you to start watching.

Sam Stout is very swift and fluid with superior Octagon generalship with the heavy pop in both hands, hence "Hands of Stone" that is complemented with one of the best iron chins in the UFC. He is a relentless fighter that will come at you in every direction and will give more than pound of flesh and every drop of his blood while the fight is on.

In upcoming UFC 138 that will be held in Vancouver, Canada, Stout will probably be matched up with long time UFC lightweight Yves "Thug Jitsu Master" Edward. Much has changed in the UFC's lightweight division in the 5 years that Yves has been away from the top MMA organization. This match up is a very winnable fight for Sam Stout who is up against an aging battle tested Yves.
