MANNY PACQUIAO HITS THE BIG SCREEN IN SM MEGAMALL By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Fri, 20 Jan 2006 MOVE over King Kong, Exodus and Enteng Kabisote. Manny Pacquiao, the boxer not the actor, hits the big screen Sunday morning at SM cinemas nationwide. Solar Sports, in partnership with SM, will show the live satellite feed of Pacquiao's super featherweight rematch with Eric Morales of Mexico in selected theaters. The viewers will witness the drama as it unfolds at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA for P300. There will be no commercial break. While Pacquiao is no box-office king as an action star, it would certainly be a different story with him as real life boxing hero. This early, Pacquiao fanatics are scampering to get reserve seats for the pay-per-view. The lady at the mocked up booth at the hallway of cinemas 1-6 in SM Manila hinted that ticket sales is heading towards a sell-out. That was the case in two previous occasions that Solar Sports organized a viewing event of Pacquiao fight on cinemas. Aside from SM Manila, the event dubbed as "The Battle" will be shown at SM Centerpoint, SM Megamall, SM North Edsa, SM Southmall, SM Fairview and Rockwell Powerplant theaters. There will also be PPV at SM branches in Davao, Cebu, Iloilo and Pampanga. Pacquiao, a two-time world champion, lost a unanimous but close decision to three-time world champ Morales during their first meeting. Serving as appetizer for the main event are the matches pitting World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight champion Martin Castillo and former champ Alexander Munoz and middleweights Anthony Thompson and Jose Luiz Zertuche. The PPV begins at 8 a.m. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Marlon Bernardino. |
