“Pitbull” Cruz Battles Skilled Lamont Roach Next! By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Fri, 10 Oct 2025  Super popular Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz, the fan-friendly Mexican action star, will defend his WBC interim title against the taller and fantastically skilled WBA Super Featherweight King Lamont Roach (25-1, 10 KOs). The two men will battle for Pitbull’s WBC interim 140-pound title on December 6 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Both marquee fighters are looking to make a big statement in the hot super lightweight division. Pitbull (28-3-1, 18 KOs) aims to keep his interim WBC belt, positioning himself for more thrilling fights while solidifying himself as one of boxing’s most popular fighters. 
The 30-year-old Lamont Roach, meanwhile, wants to build momentum following his very controversial draw with Gervonta "Tank" Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) last March. About that fight, many fans still think Lamont edged the win and should have been awarded the 135-pound world title. That didn’t happen. It was a draw, and Gervonta’s turning his back during the fight without permission from referee Steve Willis is something no boxing fan likes. Was Steve Willis too lenient? The controversy in Gervonta vs. Lamont revolves around that specific incident where Gervonta turned his back to Lamont in the tenth round without explicit permission from the referee.
