Pinoy Pride 41: Fights Recap + New Fight Photos

PhilBoxing.com

CEBU CITY, Philippines -- The knockout-filled Pinoy Pride 41: New Generation Warriors Saturday night (July 8) here in Cebu was a thrilling success with fight fans in attendance having a terrific boxing time. So for the boxing brothers who missed the action, here is the fight recap, together with brand new Pinoy Pride 41 fight photos:

In the main event, Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo (17-0, 13 KO's) ravaged Nicaraguan veteran Daniel "El General" Diaz rocking him down to the floor three times, ending him in 1:45 of round 1.

In the co-main, 122-pounder Masbate Astroboy Jeo "Santino" Santisima buried in less than 3 minutes the aggressive African Goodluck Mrema who had a really bad luck against the power of Astroboy.

Third man Tony Pesons correctly waves fight off saving Mrema's life. Santino crushed Mrema fast.

Albert Pagara downs the comical Thai Aekkawee Kaewmanee.

In another combat, world-ranked featherweight "Prince" Albert Pagara -- whom some fans love, and some fans hate -- scored a damaging 4th round KO by delivering an explosive left hook to the solar plexus of clownish Thai journeyman Aekkawee Kaewmanee, who was taken out of the ring in a stretcher, ending up in the ER.

The result in favor of Albert Pagara was widely expected and the win benefits his standing in the WBO world-ranking, where the "Prince" he currently # 13.

Canoy attacks and lands left on Jerusalem.

Moreover, Gensan's Joey Canoy, a slick southpaw of the Brix Flores/Singwancha Gym in Mandaue, outpointed in a unanimous decision verdict ALA fighter Melvin "Gringo" Jerusalem in an intense 10-rounder. Scorecards were 95-93 (twice) and 97-92. My non-official scorecard was 95-93.

"Gringo" Jerusalem was in his first fight after losing his world-title challenge to unbeaten Thai world champ Chayaphon Moonsri (47-0, 17 KO's) last January in Bangkok and boxing fans were expecting his win.

But it was Joey Canoy - who looks like the British rock star Sir Rod Stewart -- the one who prevailed.

Kevin Jake KJ Cataraja (6-0, 5 KO's) annihilates Lony Cadayday.

In addition, undefeated local 112-pounder Kevin Jake "KJ" Cataraja of the famed ALA Gym scored a crushing KO over brave Mindanao boxer Lony Cadayday (4-2-2, 1 KO). The end came at 1:47 of the 8th. The 22-year-old Catajara improves to 6-0, 5 KO's.

In a battle of Cebu-born flyweights, Junrel Jimenez (8-1, 5 KO's) wearing green trunks prescribed a thrilling TKO to fellow Cebuano Margarito Moya.

Jimenez waits in a neutral corner as Moya struggles to beat the count.

The tough southpaw Moya (9-4, 3 KO's) had gone down in the first chapter, a product of a perfectly-placed right straight. The rough end came in round 3.

Moreover, Flyweight Esneth Domingo (6-0, 4 KO's), with his popular trainer Michael Domingo in his corner, cruised over spirited John Kenan Villaflor of Negros. Esneth, 18, downed Villaflor in the 2nd chapter and outworked him in all 6 rounds.

Esneth Domingo (7-0, 4 KO's) again staggers John Kenan Villaflor with a right hook.

Jeno Macapobre (L) takes a right from Rolien Getalada. Macapobre won by points.

In the combat that began Pinoy Pride 41, Jeno Macapobre from the beautiful City of Toledo in Eastern Cebu Province debuted with success after outmaneuvering Rolien Getalada, 19, of Compostela.

An enthusiastic Getalada managed to land some good right hooks on Macapobre, but at the end of the 4-rounder, it was the young man from Toledo who edged the win by majority decision with numbers of 39-37, 39-38, 38-38.

Pinoy Pride 41: New Generation Warriors was a production of ALA Boxing Promotions, President & CEO Michael Aldeguer.
