PhilBoxing.com

QUEZON CITY ? ?Prince? Albert Pagara kept his IBF Intercontinental jr. featherweight belt and undefeated record with an impressive TKO win over Mexican challenger Rodolfo Hernandez. Pagara?s straight right toppled Hernandez in the opening round. The Mexican got up but continued to receive head jolting shots. Pagara?s right uppercut was his best punch of the fight but Hernandez remained on his feet.

The Mexican tried to mount an offense but his accuracy was found wanting. The third round ended with Hernandez being pounded on the ropes. The Mexican corner capitulated before the start of the 5th with Hernandez complaining of an injured right hand.

Pagara is now 23-0, 16KO?s. He is now set for an overseas outing by mid-year. Pagara said during the post-fight press conference that he felt Hernandez? power but he was able to shake it off. Hernandez drops to his sixth loss - 26-6-1, 24KO?s. Pagara is also ranked number seven in the February rankings of the IBF whose world champion is Carl Frampton of Northern Ireland.
