By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Thu, 30 Jan 2014
Filipino boxer Rey Loreto and his team arrived Monday in glamorous Monte Carlo in the country of Monaco, five days ahead of his International Boxing Organization (I.B.O.) light flyweight championship bout with Nkosinathi Joyi of South Africa.
Loreto, 23, of Davao City left Manila just past midnight and arrived at their destination at around 1 in the afternoon. He is accompanied by his trainer, Joven Jorda and manager, Brico Santig.
Loreto told Philboxing.com that this bout is a good opportunity for him to fight for a world title and he is aiming to derail Joyi?s plans of adding another belt in his collection. Joyi was a former minimumweight champion in both the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the IBO.
Loreto who continued light training Tuesday and Wednesday in Monte Carlo is dedicating this fight to the country and to his son who is to turn one year old in September. The Filipino challenger is ranked 14th in the World Boxing Association?s latest rankings.
Loreto and Joyi will be complementing the IBO and WBA Middleweight battle this Saturday nightr between Russian juggernaut and champion, Gennady ?Triple G? Golovkin and challenger Osumanu Adama at the prestigious Salle des Etoiles at the Sporting Monte-Carlo.
