Richard Betos Stops Thai to Win ABCO Super-Bantamweight Championship

Richard "Tibay" Betos battered Petchnamnung Sithsaithong of Thailand before referee Bruce McTavish stepped in to save the Thai from further unnecessary punishment midway in the 4th round of their 12-round WBC Asian Boxing Council Super-Bantamweight Championship last night, 30 June 2012, at the Urios University Gym, Butuan City.
Having the height and reach advantages, Betos peppered Sithsaitong with combinations to the head and body from the 1st round on knocking down the Thai towards the end of the 3rd round in the Thai's corner. Blood spewed from the Thai's nose as he struggled to beat the count. In accordance with the rule where a fighter is not saved by the bell in any round, the ringing of the bell ending the 3rd round was made only after Sithsaithong succeeded in beating McTavish's count.
While Sithsaithong was out-punched, he gave the Butuan City crowd some scare when he buckled Betos's knees in the 2nd round with a jarring punch to the jaw. But after weathering the stormy moments, Betos reassured the Butuan fans that the night belonged to him.
Betos (W-19, L-5, D-1) registered his 7th KO while Sithsaithong suffered his 2nd loss in his W-10 (7 KOs), L-2, D-0 record.

Jeffrey Galero scored a 3rd round TKO over Jay-R Calunsag in their 106-lb 8-round fight.
Joel Hecotivo KOd Marvin Catipay in the 1st round in their 130-lb 4-round fight.
