Buhain, Paglumotan to open GAB-Zamboanga today

PhilBoxing.com

Games and Amusements Board Chairman Eric R.Buhain and Commissioner Alex A.Paglumotan are scheduled to arrive in Zamboanga City today for the inauguration of the agency's extension office of GAB.

As part and parcel of their continuing thrust to expand the service of the agency as the profesional sporting vanguard of the Office of the President. The expansion program in itself has been realized through the efforts of Congressman Enrico Basilio Fabian of the lone district of Zamboanga. And once the Zamboanga GAB becomes operational, it is expected to cover and provide technical support as part of its authority and mandate in the whole provinces of Zamboanga including Sulu and Tawi-tawi provinces.

"This is another milestone in the Buhain administration in ensuring the development of professional sports activities and in pump priming the potentials of our young athletes for global competitiveness" a sports leader in Zamboanga declared. For his part, Chairman Buhain relates to this writer that "opening another arm of the GAB in Zamboanga City is of course opening the floodgate of opportunity for future world class athletes".

Yes, we can see the sincerity in the words of the country's big boss of the GAB.This is timely since our Filipino professional athletes in many sports and with special mention to "boxing" have shown remarkable achievements before the international community of competitions.

Expectedly, we are hoping that the local government of Zamboanga City headed by Mayor Celso Lobregat will be a big partner in this endeavor. We know the good Mayor of this wonderful city of the south is also one big supporter of sports development in his locality. And considering that the opening of this agency's sub-regional office is anchored on the theory of a "joint project" the great probability of achieving our goal in building -up national champions is a doable one.

Attuned to the aim of building this national governmental agenda of promoting "mega regions" as a form of economic and advance state of socio-political strengthening strongly announced by Her ExcellencyPresident Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, GAB's expansion program is another area of contributing to the Presidential masterplan towards a " strong republic".Because if several aspects of governance are so vital in the interest of common Filipinos, we maintain it as a common belief and language in sports. We do likewise in unison would like to execute this snappy salute to our direct big boss in Malacanang Executive Secretary Eduardo R.Ermita for having his unconditional support thrown at the GAB.

So, without any taint of hesitation, we do hope and pray that GAB Zamboanga City will progress and be a tool for creating future champions. If both government and the private sectors will put their acts together in concert, this place in no doubt will become a new haven for professional sporting activity.
