GABI SET TO RETURN AUG. 10

World-rated Diosdado ?Lion Heart? Gabi of the Philippines, coming off a spirited effort where he lost at his attempt for a World Title on March 3, 2006 against IBF Flyweight Champion Vic Darchinyan, is set to make his ring return on August 10, 2006 at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada.
Gabi will be a support bout on a fight card headlined by WBC Junior Flyweight Champion Brian Viloria. The card is being presented by Top Rank Promotions in association with the Orleans Hotel and Casino. National television coverage will be provided by Versus formally known as the ?out door living network?. Top Rank recently entered into a multi- million dollar 12 fight card agreement with Versus television.
Gabi?s manager, Michael Koncz stated ?Gabi has been very anxious to return to the ring since his loss to Vick Darchinyan. However, this was delayed due to a suspension that was imposed by the California State Athletic commission as a result of the 8 round TKO?.
Top Rank and I have not agreed on an opponent but, the fight on August 10 will definitely be at 115 pounds. Gabi will now move up and campaign at the Super Flyweight division as he will be more comfortable with the added 3 pounds. Also, we believe fighting at 115 his knock-out ratio will increase Koncz added.
?With his tremendous work ethic and determination we are very optimistic and confident that by the end of the year Gabi will again have the opportunity to fulfill his dream of becoming a World Champion in the Super Flyweight division? Koncz concluded.
