"NO MERCY" IN THE BAY AREA: UNBEATEN MERCITO GESTA HEADLINES FEBRUARY 18 EDITION OF "S?LO BOXEO TECATE"

PhilBoxing.com

UNDEFEATED TOP JUNIOR LIGHTWEIGHT PROSPECT ELOY PEREZ BATTLES ROGER GONZALEZ IN CO-FEATURED BOUT

LOS ANGELES, February 11 - "S?lo Boxeo Tecate" travels to the Bay Area on Friday, February 18, as the Longshoreman's Hall in San Francisco, Calif. hosts an exciting doubleheader featuring highly-touted Filipino sensation Mercito Gesta in a main event rematch against Genaro Trazancos, along with a junior lightweight clash between unbeaten Salinas contender Eloy Perez and veteran standout Roger "Speedy" Gonzalez.

The February 18 edition of "S?lo Boxeo Tecate" featuring Gesta vs. Trazancos is presented by Don Chargin Productions and Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate and AT&T. Doors open at 6:00pm PT on fight night, the first bell rings at 7:00pm PT and the TeleFutura broadcast begins at 11:30pm ET / PT (10:30pm CT).

For tickets, priced at $50, $80 and $125 visit:

Fans at home can also be part of the action by participating in Cintur?n Tecate for the fighter in the main event who displayed the most character in the ring by sending a text message to 55333. Voting will be open through the end of the weekend.

Seen by many as the next star to emerge from the boxing-rich nation of the Philippines, Cebu native Mercito "No Mercy" Gesta (20-0-1, 10 KO's) is coming off of a year to remember in 2010. The winner of four bouts, three by knockout, Gesta's conquests included a fourth round stoppage of Oscar Meza for the NABO youth lightweight title, a seventh round knockout of Genaro Trazancos and a second round blitz of Ivan Valle. On February 18, the San Diego resident returns with his sights on an even bigger and better year in 2011.

Standing in the way of Gesta's forward momentum will be a familiar face in Mexico City's Genaro Trazancos (22-13-1, 13 KO's). A hard-hitting veteran with over 15 years in the sweet science, the 36-year-old first battled Gesta in August of 2010 and in the early rounds he tested the youngster with thudding power shots. But in round seven, Gesta broke open a close fight with a knockout win. This time around, Trazancos plans on being the one leaving the ring with his hand raised.

24-year old Eloy "Prince" Perez (19-0, 5 KO's) stepped up to the plate in a big way in 2010, defending the WBC USNBC junior lightweight title against "Dangerous" David Rodela in January while defending his NABO title with wins over Gilberto Sanchez Leon and Dominic Salcido. Now the only goal left for the highly-regarded Salinas product to attain is a world title, but first he must prove that he can turn back a seasoned veteran like Roger Gonzalez.

Ultra-tough Roger "Speedy" Gonzalez (27-3, 18 KO's) is a veteran of the sweet science with world-class boxing skills and power. Hailing from Chino, California, Gonzalez's last three bouts have come against a tough line up in Adolfo Landeros, Cornelius Lock and Yuriorkis Gamboa. Gonzalez begins the New Year with a new determination to get into the world title picture, so you can expect the 32-year-old to be firing on all cylinders on February 18.

Tecate, cerveza con car?cter, is the largest beer brand to sponsor boxing matches in the U.S. Part of its commitment to make boxing accessible to consumers is the title sponsorship of "S?lo Boxeo Tecate," which creates an opportunity for local fans to witness some of the most exhilarating fights by today's up-and-coming prospects. Additionally, Tecate has been a primary supporter of Golden Boy Promotions' marquee events since 2007, and has launched a variety of initiatives to ensure consumers are part of the boxing experience, including boxer autograph signing sessions, commemorative cans, PPV mail-in rebate offers, and most recently the launch of a mobile museum "Tecate Museo de Boxeo," which showcases decades of the most memorable moments in the sport.
