Five Pro Bouts Cap off Mandaue City Boxfest this Sunday

The three day Inter-club amateur boxing competition held at the Mandaue City Plaza Square from April 16 to 18 will be wrapped up by five exciting professional bouts headlined by a grudge rematch between Eman Labanza against Romano Gelig. Last September 2009 in Balamban,Cebu, the two southpaws engaged in a well fought brawl with Labanza winning by unanimous decision in six rounds. This Sunday, they will be fighting in an eight round superbantamweight contest.
Welbeth Loberanis of Mandaue City, a former National Team member, will make his pro debut as a flyweight against Rommel Banquirego of Cebu City in a 4 round contest. Zaldy Aroa of Bantayan Island, Cebu will face Marjun Baliguat of Cebu City in a four round flyweight contest. Kotsky Ebalang of Cagayan de Oro will fight Romeo Urpanel of the IPI gym of Mandaue City in a four round superflyweight bout and Jocel Gestopa of Consolacion, Cebu will face Jun Bryan Quimbo of Cebu City in four round superbantamweight fight.
The action-packed three day amateur slugfest billed as the 2nd Mayor Jonas C. Cortes Cup is held at the Mandaue City Plaza Square. It is organized by the Mandaue City local government, Mandaue City Sports Commission in coordination with ALA Promotions. It is open and free to the public from April 16 to 18 with the opening bout to start at 6 PM.
