Marlon Tapales Wins Phil. Lt.flyweight title

Tubod, Lanao del Norte ? Marlon ?Dream Boy? Tapales of the Black Scorpion Stable of Lanao del Norte gave an electrifying performance in front of his home town fans Friday night and won the vacant Philippine light flyweight title via seventh round TKO over Warlito Fare?as of the Torrence Mogg Stable of Manila.

Fare?as was landing more punches in the early rounds as the southpaw Tapales played the waiting game and was content to sneak in a few left straights. In the sixth round the crowd went wild as Tapales bloodied the nose of Fare?as.

Tapales stepped up his offense as Fare?as was bled profusely from his nose and was breathing through his mouth. In the seventh, Tapales landed a head jarring left uppercut into Fare?as? nose.

Fare?as turned his back towards Tapales and signalled that he had enough. Official time : 1:19 of the 7th. The hometown fans cheered lustily and many jumped into the ring for pictures with their new hero.

Tapales is now the next southpaw to watch. He was ranked number one here in the country while Fare?as was ranked number two.

In the supporting events, Eric Macas of the Black Scorpion Stable won by 8th round TKO over Daniel Mansing of Osamiz City. Macas had trouble handling the unorthodox but often retreating Mansing early in the fight until he scored he scored the decisive knockdown in the 8th prompting the referee to stop the fight at 48 seconds of the round.

Noel Adelbita of Lanao del Norte scored a one punch third round KO win over Arwin Ada of Cagayan de Oro. Official time- 24 sec round 3. Jeffrey Jimenez of Ozamis City won by third round TKO over Roland Teofilo of the Black Scorpion Stable. Jimenez went down in rounds one and two but in the third scored three knockdowns prompting the referee to stop the fight at the 2:34 second mark.

Fernando ?Batang Bato? Ocon of the Wakee Salud Stable of Cebu won by first round TKO over Rey Morano of Cagayan de Oro. Ocon scored two knockdowns prompting the referee to call a halt to the bout at the 1:19 mark. Jofel Camocamo of Dipolog City won by four round unanimous decision over Juanito Tomogsok of Ozamis City. Jolito Catubay of the Wakee Salud Stable won by third round TKO over Reynold Valencia of Bukidnon. Charlie Vere won by four round unanimous decision over Mateo Jasma.

The fight card billed as ?POWER PUNCH IN LANAO? was held at the spacious and fine-looking Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium in Tubod, Lanao del Norte. The event was organized by Black Scorpion Promotions, Rex Wakee Salud International Promotions and the local government officials of Lanao del Norte.
