DELADA VS KEVKATCHE SET ON SEPT. 16
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Tue, 06 Sep 2005
Heavy-fisted Dexter "Dinamita" Delada faces one tough hurdle before his crack at the Philippine lightweight crown as he takes on veteran Rud 4K Kevkatche on September 16 in Lapu-Lapu City.
The Camiguin-raised Delada, a protege of promoter Rex "Wakee" Salud, is expected to go all out for this one as a loss would mean the scrapping of his October 22 title challenge against Fernando Montilla in Manila.
Dubbed as the Filipino version of Diego Corrales by Filipino boxing scholar Hermie Rivera, Delada boasts of a 12-2 win-loss record with 10 knockout victories.
In the chief support, Benedict Suico, now managed by Salud, takes on Jun Ebale in another 10-round face-off.
Suico, still considered as one of Cebu's top prospects despite an ill-advised fight against Kaichon Vorapin in Thailand last February, is hoping to bounce back under his new management team.
Other bouts pit Aljun Salugaol versus Gerry Manganip (10 rds); Gabriel Pumar against Joel Rodrigo (8 rds); Bogie Delada versus Roldan Malinao (8 rds); Gerope Mercado versus Rodel Veronque (6 rds); Bonnie Maido against Jimboy Caciple (4rds); Gedion Amba versus Erwin Pulvera (4 rds); and Abner Llanasa against Elvin Lano (4rds).
