The bout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) marked a dramatic reversal of fortune for Benn, who avenged his earlier loss to Eubank Jr and delivered the first victory by a Benn over an Eubank in their families’ storied rivalry. From the opening bell, Benn looked sharper, quicker and far better prepared. According to reportage, he applied steady pressure, used his jab and combinations effectively, and made Eubank Jr fight on his back foot for much of the night. The telling moment came late: in the 12th round, Benn dropped Eubank Jr twice, nearly finishing the contest, before the final bell saved Eubank Jr from stoppage. In his post-fight comments, Benn declared that this rivalry chapter was “done”, suggesting he may now turn his focus to world-title opportunities rather than a trilogy. Eubank Jr, meanwhile, respectfully acknowledged Benn’s performance and hinted at regrouping for his next steps. For the boxing world, Benn’s win elevates him firmly back into contender status; whether it leads directly to a world title fight remains to be seen. What began as a bitter rivalry rooted in their fathers’ clashes in the 1990s culminated in this decisive rematch victory for Conor Benn.
