Abne brothers prevail

THE fighting Abne brothers – April Jay and Ian – from Manticao, Misamis Oriental won in contrasting ways last May 21 at the Bacaltos Sport and Cultural Center in Sibonga, Cebu.
Flyweight April Jay Abne, who is nicknamed “Astroboy”, scored a 2nd round technical knockout over Arnold “Destroyer” Garde of Pres Roxas, Cotabato.
Garde was twice knocked down by Abne in the 1st round before he was knocked down again in the 2nd round.
It was the 9th win against one loss by Abne while Garde suffered his 13th loss against 10 wins and three draws.
Ian Abne, on the other hand, won by a unanimous decision against Ronald Ewican in an 8-rounder bout.
Ian remained unbeaten with six wins and four knockouts.
Meanwhile, John Paul Gabunillas scored a unanimous decision over Ricardo Sueno in the main event.
Sueno was deducted a point for rabbit punches.

Rodel Wenceslao retired Mark Sales in the 2nd round; Bryan James Wild won by a split decision over Jason Dohelio;
Berlad Robles beat Reymark Alicaba by a unanimous decision; Rodex Piala won by a unanimous decision over Ivor Lastrilla;
Brix Piala beat Jatar Aliasot by a UD; Ramil Macado scored a TKO over Jovab Lucas in the 4th round; Yeroge Gura won by a UD over Vincent Bautista.
Jason and Eva Marie Arquisola are the promoters.
