By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Tue, 25 Sep 2007

R&B Princess Kyla, known for her raspy and husky voice, has been chosen by no less than superstar Manny Pacquiao to sing the Philippine national anthem at the October 6 'Will to Win' card featuring the Filipino icon against Mexican star Marco Antonio Barrera at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Melanie Hernandez Calumpad in real life, Kyla is the only female local artist who has won at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Kyla edged out other outstanding singers who had expressed interest in singing the national anthem, including sexy actress Ara Mina, who has been working with Pacquiao on a movie due to be out soon.
"Manny was happy with Kyla's performance when she sang at the send-off party held for him by Solar and GMA last Saturday," said a very reliable source from GMA-7.
Another source from Solar Sports, which won the rights to air the Pacquiao-Barrera bout, said that Kyla was indeed chosen although they have yet to send out official press releases.
