DIALE LOSES BY 4TH ROUND TKO IN WBO FLYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sun, 27 Feb 2011 Unheralded Filipino Arden Diale stunned World Boxing Organization flyweight champion Julio Cesar ?Pingo? Miranda when he dropped him with a right in the opening round in Queretaro, Mexico on Sunday, Manila Time but the Mexican champion roared back to retain his title with a 4th round TKO. Except for the flash knockdown in round one it was evident that Miranda was too strong for the over-matched Filipino who had a record of 14-3-3 with 3 knockouts compared to the champion?s record of 35-5-1 with 28 knockouts. Stunned by the knockdown, Miranda quickly recovered and came charging back to hammer Diale in round two with solid shots to the head and body. Miranda kept up the pressure and dropped the WBO No. 8 ranked Diale once in round three and once again in round four before the referee decided to stop the contest at 1:29 of the round. The 22 year old Diale had previously lost to former WBC light flyweight champion Rodel Mayol in a Philippine light flyweight title fight on August 16, 2008, dropped a unanimous ten round decision to Thailand?s Wanheng Menayothin in a WBC Youth world minimum weight title fight on October 31, 2008 and suffered an 8th round knockout at the hands of Johnreil Casimero in a WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight title bout on May 28, 2009. However, Diale scored a big 3rd round TKO victory over undefeated Jermie Jabel (15-0, 7 KO?s) to win the WBO Oriental flyweight title last August 1 and earn the world title shot against Miranda. Diale dropped Jabel in eveRy round en route to the stunning upset victory. Miranda won the title with a 5th round TKO over fancied Filipino Richie Mepranum on June 12 last year and then scored back to back wins over Colombian fighters Ronald Ramos who retired in the 8th round on September 4 and Michael Arango who lost by a 2nd round TKO on October 16 last year.
