DRIAN FRANCISCO'S MANAGER RECEIVED MIJARES FIGHT CONTRACT
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 13 Aug 2010

The youthful manager of WBA super flyweight interim champion Drian Francisco has informed insidesports.ph that he has received the contract for a fight against reigning North American Boxing Federation bantamweight champion Christian Mijares from well-known promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions and is studying the details.
Elmer Anuran said the fight will be held sometime in October in Mexico and that he was not aware of a statement by WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel that a fight between him and Mijares was being talked about for September.
Anuran told us that Mijares wants to go back to fighting as a super flyweight in order to face Francisco who is undefeated with a record of 19-0-1 with 15 knockouts. Mijares, on the other hand, is a clinically sound boxer with a record of 39-6-2 with 17 knockouts.
Francisco?s manager told us the fight is likely to take place either on October 9 or 16 in Mexico and that Francisco will fly to Los Angeles in September to continue his training at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach although Roach is expected to be in Manila at that time as pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao prepares for his planned title fight against Antonio Margarito.
Anuran told us earlier ?it doesn?t matter if the fight will be in Mexico. This will be the opening of the door for Drian to be recognized in the world and the international market.? He said Francisco is ?capable and ready to fight anyone, anywhere.?
