Midgley Stops Apisit, Claims WBF Australasian Belt
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Tue, 12 Aug 2025

BANGKOK, Thailand — Australian Nick Midgley decked and overpowered brave Apisit Sangmuang of Thailand to claim the vacant WBF Australasian Heavyweight title in Bangkok.
From the outset, the heavily tattooed Midgley came out aggressively, landing severe blows that quickly drained the stamina of the experienced Thai fighter.
Apisit, weighing 100 kilos, tried to fight back, but Midgley didn't give him a chance to mount a meaningful attack.
In an attempt to score on Apisit's mid-section, Midgley landed an unintentional low blow, but it wasn't severe enough to warrant a point deduction.
The intense battle continued into the second round, where Midgley caught Apisit with a violent right hook to the chin, sending him crashing to the canvas for the first time.
Apisit bravely got back to his feet, but Midgley was relentless, unleashing a flurry of punches that left Apisit unable to continue.
The experienced Thai referee, Worawuth Duankhao, had no choice but to wave off the fight.
The title bout was organized by Thai promoter Samita Xanthavanij, and supervised for the WBF by Alvin S. Go of Cavite, Philippines.
