PERO CLASHES WITH THOMPSON IN ORLANDO ON NOV 1 AS HOMETOWN HERO JONES RETURNS LIVE ON DAZN

PhilBoxing.com

Lenier Pero will take on Jordan Thompson at Caribe Royale in Orlando on Saturday November 1, live worldwide on DAZN – as Team USA Olympic hero Omari Jones returns to action on home turf.

Pero (12-0 8 KOs) moved to 12-0 in his last outing in April at the same venue, going the ten round distance with Detrailious Webster to claim the WBA Continental Latin America title in the first fight of his co-promotional deal with Matchroom and BoxLab Promotions.

The former Cuban amateur stand out is closing in on the big fights at Heavyweight, sitting at #3 in the WBA rankings, and the 32 year old will be out to underline his credentials against Briton Thompson (15-1 12 KOs) who makes his debut over ten rounds at Heavyweight having moved up from Cruiserweight after challenging IBF World ruler Jai Opetaia in his last outing in London in September 2023.

Jones (3-0 3 KOs) steps through the ropes for the fourth time as a pro, and the Paris Bronze medal man has impressed greatly in the paid ranks to date, winning all three of his bouts inside the distance. The 22 year old returns to the hometown venue that he made his pro debut in back in March, and he’ll be looking to make it four wins from four over six rounds in November, just six days before his 23rd birthday.

Announcements on further undercard fights and ticket details will be made soon.

QUOTES

LENIER PERO
“Every fight is a step toward greatness, and November 1 is no different. I respect Jordan Thompson, but this is my time. In front of the fans in Orlando and everyone watching on DAZN, I’m going to show why I’m undefeated—and why I’m destined to become the first Cuban Heavyweight Champion of the World.”

JORDAN THOMPSON
“I feel very blessed to be back with another huge opportunity headlining a Matchroom boxing show again. I’m very grateful for the opportunity and you are going to see my best as a Heavyweight. I’ll be ready for whatever the night and occasion brings, and I want to thank Frank Smith and the Matchroom team for putting it together.”

OMARI JONES
“It’s time to put on a great performance and put the city on my back – AGAIN!”

EDDIE HEARN
“It’s great to be back in Orlando for our third show at the brilliant Caribe Royale. The Heavyweight division is evolving rapidly, and Lenier is well placed to stake his claim for the big fights in the glamour division, but Jordan can put pay to those plans as he makes his bow in the division.

“Omari has had an outstanding start to life in the professional game, taking everything in his stride both in and out of the ring, and he can finish a great year in style at home in November.”

AMAURY PIEDRO, VP Operations and Managing Director, Caribe Royale
“On behalf of the entire team at Caribe Royale we’re proud to welcome Matchroom Boxing back to Central Florida! This will be an action-packed night of Championship Boxing and anytime we can feature Orlando’s own Omari Jones fighting in front of his hometown crowd it’s just an added plus.

“Caribe Royale continues to bring entertainment rivaled by none in Orlando for our guests and locals alike!“
