IBF SAYS NOBODY EXCEPT VIVA SPORTS COMPLAINED ABOUT SOLIS-DONAIRE DECISION

PhilBoxing.com

IBF Championship Committee chairman Lidsey Tucker says the IBF has ?not received a single complaint? regarding the scorecards in the IBF light flyweight title fight between Glenn Donaire and Mexican champion Ulises ?Archie? Solis in Hermosillo, Mexico last Saturday.

Tucker told Viva Sports "we have not received a single complaint except for your complaint." He said that unless "someone can prove that one or more judges did something wrong? there is no way the IBF can take action. ?

Respected boxing writer and television reporter James Blears who lives in Mexico said that ?for the first several rounds Donaire was connecting well, almost at will and hard? and was ?pounding Solis all over the place.? However, Blears did say that Solis changed tactics and then ?cleverly counterpunched and picked up points with pinpoint combinations whose impact was negligible but which scored.?

Blears said he felt Donaire ?narrowly lost the fight by two or three rounds at the most? but that the scores of 120-108 by two judges and 120-107 by the third ?reflected sheer hometown blindness.?

Fight news reported it was a close and competitive fight while another respected boxing writer James Donovan of Boxing Scene in reference to the scorecards said ?it didn?t tell the story even if the right guy won in the end.?

Tucker admitted he didn?t see the fight and hasn?t seen the scorecards yet and expects to have them in the next couple of days. Tucker also said the IBF ?never had a problem with any of the three judges that worked the fight? claiming the IBF ?purposely appointed two American judges because they have no connection to either fighter.?

He identified the judges as Ruben Garcia of Texas, Joe Garcia of Arizona and Alfredo Polanco of Mexico.

The IBF official said he didn?t get the contracts until last Tuesday (on the week of the fight) and if he had more time he would have ?tried to get a judge from the Philippines because we try (but are not always successful) to have one judge from each fighter?s country and a third judge from a neutral country.?

Tucker said he didn?t wish to comment anymore until he sees the fight supervisor?s report.
