NONITO DONAIRE CONFIDENT BROTHER GLENN WILL WIN TITLE By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sun, 22 Jun 2008 Reigning International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organization flyweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire is confident that elder brother Glenn will win the IBF light flyweight title when he battles Ulises ?Archie? Solis on July 12. The fight will take place in the Hector Espino baseball stadium in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today, Donaire who was at a party celebrating his girlfriend Rachael Marcial?s birthday said he had sparred eight rounds with Glenn a few days ago and going up to ten rounds and his brother was ?doing incredible and I think he?s going to take it to Solis and take him out.? It may not be easy since the 26 year old Solis has beaten top Filipino challengers Rodel Mayol (8th round TKO) on August 4, 2007 and Bert Batawang (9th round TKO) on December 15, 2007. Solis has a fight record of 26-1-1 with 20 knockouts. But Nonito was confident there would be two Donaire world champions after the Solis showdown. Well-known boxing writer Graham Houston ?The Fight Writer? has described Solis as ?a fine stylist tutored by the renowned ?Professor? Jesus Rivero? and is a prime example of the Mexican ?boxer type? as opposed to a ?fighter.? Donaire is coming off an impressive eighth round unanimous decision over tough Jose Albuquerque last February 22. It followed a one year four month layoff after Donaire suffered a sixth round technical decision loss in an IBF flyweight title fight against Vic Darchinyan on October 7, 2006.
