PACQUIAO JOINS BINAY SORTIES IN SARANGANI

PhilBoxing.com

GENERAL SANTOS CITY ? Beleaguered Vice President Jejomar Binay got a strong support from his allies in Sarangani and in this city during his three-day sortie in Central Mindanao region.

Binay arrived here Monday and visited the city public market where he was joined in a boodle fight by world eight-division boxing champ & Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao and Mayor Ronnel Rivera.

From there, Binay and his entourage proceeded to Lagao National High School where he was an invited guest speaker.

After the activity, the duo gave away t-shirts printed with Binay's face and the words "Kay Binay gaganda ang buhay."

The following day, Binay went to South Cotabato where he visited some municipalities to meet with local leaders.

Binay went back to General Santos in the evening for a dinner meeting with Pacquiao and his wife, Sarangani Vice Gov. Jinkee, Gensan Mayor Ronnel Rivera and Sarangani Gov. Steve Chiongbian-Solon.

On Wednesday morning, Binay went to Plaza Heneral Santos and Carlos P. Garcia Park where he did a 12-round brisk walk with Pacquiao, Rivera and Valenzuela Rep. Sherwin Gatchalian.

Noel Lautengco, a resident of this city, was impressed by the health condition of Binay.

?At his age, it?s amazing that he could easily made 12 rounds around the oval,? Lautengco said.

Mayor Rivera said he was supportive of Binay not only because he is member of Pacquiao?s local party, the People?s Champ Movement (PCM), a ally of United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), but more so because the Vice President is not yet convicted of the charges hurled against him.

?I am a member of PCM, which is an affiliate of UNA. This is to show support to Vice President Binay. He is not yet convicted. An accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by the court. Besides, I am the mayor of the city and it is my official obligation to welcome the Vice President,? Rivera said.

Pacquiao took a day off from his training to accompany the Vice President in his visit to the towns of Glan, Malapatan, Alabel and Malungon in Sarangani.

From Sarangani, Binay?s entourage proceeded to Kidapawan City for a visit.

When asked by Philboxing.com regarding his comment on issues hurled against Binay, Pacquiao said ?This is what I hate about politics in this country. Why destroy the reputation of other people just to boost your own political stock? Can we not focus on our program of government instead of resorting to demolition and mudslinging??

Pacquiao said election is still far away and the national leaders should work together for the good of the country instead of early politicking and destroying the image of their possible opponents in 2016.

Pacquiao decried particularly the proliferation of printed material labeling his upcoming fight with American boxer Chris Algieri as mere fund raising to pay his tax obligation and exposing the alleged corruption of Binay when he was still the mayor of Makati.

The article came out earlier last week in ?Dyaryo Bistado,? a Manila-based publication without editorial box.

Copies of the publication were distributed here last week prior to the arrival of Binay.

?We all knew who are the people behind this demolition job against Vice President Binay and me. Why hit me below the belt? I am not even the number one among the possible senatorial aspirants in the recent Pulse Asia survey,? Pacquiao said.

The Filipino boxing legend said ?I pray that God will bless them and enlighten their minds.? /By Aquiles Z. Zonio
