NBA -- Warriors blast Lakers, 125-94
By Laurence Agbulos PhilBoxing.com Fri, 01 Nov 2013

OAKLAND -- The Golden State Warriors started their 2013-14 regular season with a bang, easily beating the Los Angeles Lakers, 125-94, at the Oracle Arena.
Klay Thompson led the onslaught by sinking 5-of-7 triples for 38 points. David Lee finished with 24 and eight rebounds while Stephen Curry had a quiet 10 points as the Warriors shot 53.5 percent from the field (46-of-86 field goals)
With their new depth inside the paint, the Warriors held the Lakers to just 39 percent from the field as the purple-and-gold converted only 35 of their 89 shots. The Warriors defense produced nine blocks with centers Andrew Bogut and veteran Jermaine O'Neal each registering two.
Seven Lakers finished with double figures in points. Jodie Meeks and Xavier Henry tallied 14 apiece while Pau Gasol and Jordan Farmar each had 12. Chris Kaman and Wesley Johnson combined for 22.
But without their stars -- Kobe Bryant (Achilles heel) and Steve Nash (rest) -- the Lakers couldn't get any traction and seemed lost. (LA).
