NBA -- Kings lock up Cousins for four more years

SACRAMENTO -- As the team welcomed the media for their annual Media Day at the team's practice facility next to the Sleep Train Arena, the Sacramento Kings announced a contract extension for talented center DeMarcus Cousins.
The deal is worth $62 million for four years, and the 6-foot-11, 270-pound slotman couldn't have been happier.
"I'm glad it's over. I'm just here to play basketball," said Cousins, who led the Kings last season with 17.1 points and 9.9 rebounds last season.
Even with the 23-year old Cousins patrolling the middle, the Kings have a long way to go in crawling back to contention in the powerhouse Western Conference. After all, Sacramento ranked 13th among 15 West teams last season, finishing with a 28-54 slate.
But they're determined to try.
"We talked about changing our habits, being a team that was lazy and undisciplined to being a work team, a disciplined team and unselfish team." said new head coach Mike Malone who was brought in to replace Keith Smart. (LP)
