Rising Cuban Prospect Improves to 8-0-1 with Eighth Knockout Victory at Caribe Royale Resort

ORLANDO, FL (June 18, 2026) – Undefeated Cuban middleweight Pedro Veitia (8-0-1, 8 KOs) delivered another impressive performance this past Saturday night, overwhelming previously unbeaten Taiwo Afolabi (6-1, 6 KOs) en route to a sensational stoppage victory at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The scheduled six-round middleweight bout took place as part of an event co-promoted by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Boxlab Promotions and streamed live on ESPN+.

From the opening bell, Veitia, who is co-promoted with Boxlab Promotions, Warriors Boxing, and Dreambigg Promotions, showcased the skill, composure, and relentless pressure that have quickly made him one of the most exciting young prospects in the middleweight division. Facing an opponent who entered the ring with a perfect record and a 100-percent knockout ratio, Veitia methodically broke down Afolabi with sharp combinations, accurate body work, and disciplined ring generalship.

As the fight progressed, Veitia's superior technique and pace began to take a visible toll on Afolabi. By the time the contest was halted, Veitia had completely taken control, handing Afolabi the first defeat of his professional career with a 5th round TKO while preserving his own unbeaten record.

The victory marked Veitia's eighth knockout and further strengthened his reputation as one of the fastest-rising young fighters in the sport. Reflecting on his performance, Veitia spoke about the importance of remaining patient while systematically wearing down a dangerous opponent.

"We knew coming into the fight that I couldn't just go in there looking for one big punch," said Veitia. "Afolabi was undefeated and had a lot of confidence, so I wanted to stay patient and stick to the game plan. I focused on landing good shots, keeping the pressure on, and making him work hard every round. As the fight went on, I could see him getting tired and feeling the punches. That's when I knew things were starting to go my way. Getting the stoppage against a fighter who had never lost before was a great feeling because it showed that all the hard work in the gym is paying off and that I'm continuing to grow as a fighter."

Although still early in his professional career, Veitia believes he is steadily positioning himself among the division's emerging contenders. Discussing his long-term goals, the talented Cuban expressed confidence in the direction his career is heading.

"I'm not looking too far ahead," said Veitia. "I'm focused on working hard, winning fights, and improving every time I compete. I know there are still bigger challenges ahead, but I believe I'm on the right path. I want to keep growing as a fighter, stay active, and earn my way toward bigger fights and higher rankings."

The dominant victory over a previously unbeaten opponent could prove to be a significant step forward in Veitia's professional development. Looking at the bigger picture, Veitia believes the win will open new doors moving forward.

"This was a big win for me," said Veitia. "When you beat a fighter who has never lost before, people start to notice. It shows that you're willing to take on tough challenges and test yourself against good competition. I feel like this win helped prove that I'm ready for bigger fights and stronger opponents. With every fight, I'm learning more, gaining confidence, and getting one step closer to where I want to be in my career."

Like many young prospects eager to make up for lost time, Veitia hopes to return to action as soon as possible. With momentum firmly on his side, the undefeated Cuban is eager to continue building toward bigger opportunities.

"I want to get back in the ring as soon as possible," said Veitia. "Right now, the most important thing for me is staying busy and continuing to gain experience. Every fight helps me learn and become a better fighter. I'm feeling great, I'm motivated, and I want to keep this momentum going. Hopefully I can fight again later this summer because I believe the more active I stay, the faster I'll move toward bigger opportunities and eventually a shot at a title."

Boxlab Promotions President Amaury Piedra praised Veitia's maturity, professionalism, and long-term potential, emphasizing that the talented Cuban is following the right blueprint for success.

"Pedro Veitia continues to demonstrate why we believe he has an exceptionally bright future in this sport," said Piedra. "What impresses me most is not simply his ability to win fights, but the way he approaches his craft. He possesses a high boxing IQ, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn that are rare qualities in a young fighter. Saturday's victory over an undefeated opponent was another important step in his development."

Piedra also highlighted the patience and structure behind Veitia's rise through the professional ranks.

"In boxing, success is built through careful progression and consistent improvement," Piedra continued. "Pedro is embracing that process beautifully. He understands that greatness is achieved one performance at a time. We are not interested in shortcuts…we are interested in building a complete fighter capable of competing at the highest levels of the sport. Based on what we've seen thus far, Pedro is exactly where he needs to be, and we fully expect him to continue ascending the middleweight rankings in the years ahead."
