Results from Panama: "El Nica" Concepcion Beats N?stor Narv?ez; Comebacking "El Torito" Concepcion Wins By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sun, 04 Aug 2013 A dominant Luis "El Nica" Concepci?n of Panama brokered another victory late Saturday night, defeating Argentina's WBC #5 N?stor Narv?ez in a wide margin unanimous decision win to defend his WBC Flyweight Silver Title at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City, Panama. In the eight round, Panamanian referee Hector Af? deducted a point from his country man "El Nica" Concepci?n for a non-intentional below the belt blow. But the deduction did nothing to alter the outcome of the battle as Concepcion was the most aggressive and effective fighter throughout the fast-paced rumble, a fact reflected in the score cards of the WBC neutral judges 118-109 (twice) and 118-119, all in favor to the popular 27 year-old Luis "El Nica" Concepcion. The hard-swinging "El Nica," a fighter who celebrate his victories by dangerously climbing up to the nearest ring post to make a back-flip jump back into the ring, might have as well earned a title shot with the winner of the Akira Yaegashi-Oscar Blanquet WBC Flyweight world clash scheduled for August 12 in Tokyo. EL TORITO WINS AND MORE RESULTS In the most exciting rumble of the evening, 31 year-old former WBA interim super flyweight champ Rafael "El Torito" Concepci?n came back from retirement to outpoint unheralded Nicaraguan Germ?n Lara (10-2, 2 KOs) in a battle in which "El Torito" Concepcion - with limited head movement - took the power blow from the Nicaraguan that sent him down to the canvas. "El Torito," now a super bantamweight, stood up throwing enough punches to earn the decision. In another supporting bout, IBF ranked Panamanian Ricardo "El Matem?tico" N??ez (26-3, 22 KOs) scored a TKO in round 12 over tough Nicaraguan flyweight Nerys Espinoza (30-10-2, 20 KOs). Having difficulty to stay inside the 112 lbs weight limit, the 25 year-old N??ez might have to climb up to the super flyweight division. Meanwhile, in a clash of local fighters, underdog Edwin "La Pantera" Diaz (16-18, 5 KOs), scored a surprise majority decision victory over WBC rated Dirceu Cabarca (15-8, 6 KOs), to capture the WBC Fecarbox Flyweight title as well as a place in the WBC world rankings. Also, Jezreel "The Invisible" Corrales of Panama defeated by unanimous decision Colombian Jonathan "Popeye" P?rez to capture the WBC Latino Featherweight Title. Scores in favor of Corrales were 80-70 (twice) and 79-71. In a girls fight, 23 year-old Sayda Mosquera (5-0, 4 KOs) delivered a devastating storm of leather over fellow Panamanian Veronia Taylor to knock her out in the very first round. The fight event at the Roberto Duran Arena was a promotion of Rogelio Espi?o of Promociones y Eventos del Istmo aired LIVE in Panama on TV Max Channel 9 and in Latin American on TyC Sports.
