USA Boxing Elite High Performance Squad Earns Eight More Wins on Day Two at 2026 Copa America

United States Secures 19 Total Wins Through Two Days in Colombia

GIRARDOT, Colombia (May 19, 2026) – The USA Boxing Elite High Performance Squad had another dominant day at the 2026 Copa America event in Girardot, Colombia. The United States secured eight more wins on Monday, bringing its total to 19 through the first two days of competition.

Starting it off for the Stars and Stripes on Monday was Jennifer Lozano (51 kilograms). The 2024 Paris Olympian earned her second RSC victory of the event, improving her competition record to 2 0 after defeating Claudia Cajo.

Lozano will now have Tuesday off and will return to the ring on Wednesday, May 20. After Lozano, Jayshannet Zapata (54 kilograms) earned a gritty 3-2 split decision victory over Diana Maestre. Zapata will look for a 3-0 start in Colombia, as she will enter the ring on day three against Yenni Arias in Session 2, Bout 2 at approximately 3:15 p.m. ET.

Moving on to the men’s side, Yahir Diaz-Martinez (60 kilograms), Dustin Jimenez (65 kilograms), Kentrell Rouser (70 kilograms), Tyric Trapp (80 kilograms), Gilbert Kabamba (90+ kilograms), and Nnajai Wright (90+ kilograms) all improved to 2-0 in Colombia with their second victory of the event.

Jimenez, Rouser, Trapp, and Wright all earned 5-0 unanimous decision victories, Diaz-Martinez secured a 4-1 split decision victory, and Kabamba earned a 3-2 split decision victory on Monday. All six boxers will return to action for the third consecutive day on Tuesday.

Diaz-Martinez will face Juan Sebastian Palacios Jimenez in Session 2, Bout 14 at approximately 6:15 p.m. ET, followed shortly by Jimenez, who will go head-to-head with Jose Yate in Session 2, Bout 15 at approximately 6:30 p.m. ET.

After Jimenez, Rouser will face Jhonatan Ramos in Session 2, Bout 20 at approximately 7:45 p.m. ET, and Trapp will face Andres Orobio in Session 2, Bout 22 at approximately 8:15 p.m. ET.

Rounding out day three for the Stars and Stripes will be USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance Squad’s two super heavyweights. Kabamba will square off with Cristian Salcedo in Session 2, Bout 27 at approximately 9:30 p.m. ET, and Wright will face Luis Guerra in Session 2, Bout 28 at approximately 9:45 p.m. ET.

Also competing for the USA Boxing Elite High Performance Squad on Monday were Deborah Grant (57 kilograms), Alexis Proctor (60 kilograms), and Malachi Georges (90 kilograms). However, all three boxers fell short on Monday, suffering their first loss of the event.

Georges and Grant will return to action and will try to improve to 2-1 in this event, as Grant squares off with Karen Chacon on Tuesday in Session 2, Bout 5 at approximately 4:00 p.m. ET, and Georges will face Miguel Teo on Tuesday in Session 2, Bout 25 at approximately 9:00 p.m. ET. Proctor has Tuesday off and will return to action on Wednesday, May 20.

The USA Boxing Elite High Performance Squad will have 10 boxers enter the ring on Tuesday, May 19, including seven boxers who will look for a perfect 3-0 start through the first three days of competition. Tuesday's schedule will feature two sessions, beginning at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. ET. All 10 United States boxers will compete in the second session.

Throughout the competition at the 2026 Copa America, the United States will be led by USA Boxing National Development Coach Edward Fonteneaux (Fayetteville, N.C.), with assistance from Alex Love (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Billy Rafalko (Philadelphia, Pa.), and Jeffrey Nimo (Grand Prairie, Texas).
