QC ends PCAP Season 6 All-Filipino conference campaign By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Wed, 20 May 2026 The IIEE PSME Quezon City Simba’s Tribe closed out the All-Filipino conference Season 6 of the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) with 8-14 win-loss card. Team owners Danilo Ponay and Engr. Allan Alvarez together with coaches Michaela Concio, Engr. Bren Sasot and Mark Oliver Ingcad had rotated over 30 players in the league. The top 3 scores were newbies senior player Leonardo Navarro and lady player WNM Rusela Joya-Magsino together with homegrown veteran Kristian Paulo Cristobal. Others who contributed heavily were first timers FM Jony Habla, NM Louie Salvador, Engr. Randy Turreda, Engr. Josephine Mae Hizon and NM Aglipay8 Oberio together with Team veteran FM Rico Salimbagat, CM Joseph Navarro, Engr. Joseph Galindo and twins Francis and Freddie Talaboc. In all, there were 17 titled masters in QC roster which also included IM Jose Efren Bagamasbad, IM Ronald Bancod, FM Roberto Suelo Jr., NM Marlon Bernardino, NM Romeo Alcodia, NM Gerald Ferriol, NM Homer Cunanan, NM Robert Arellano, NM Alvin Alcala and NM Nicomedes Alisangco. The team was also composed of 18 engineers whose main offices are situated in Quezon City with full support from Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) and Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE). They are, Engr. Jose Oyen Madriaga, Engr. Raynold Roces, Engr. Ronald Donasco, Engr. Patrick Erle Florendo, Engr. Michael Suacillo, Engr. Julian Paul Querubin, Engr. Bonalyn Ornido, Engr. Jellie Ann Magro, Dion Urbina and Engr. Roger Reyes. Other team players and supports are CM Romy Fagon, Norman Madariaga, Nixon Curioso, Justin Corpin, Manilyn Cabungcag, Elizsa Gayle Cafirma, Arian Belly Calido, John Salcedo and team managers Dennis Alain Lladoc and Samivin de los Santos. “The Simbas will be roaring back stronger in Wesley So Cup 2nd conference hoping to get a seasoned import” says Engr.
