NBA -- Heat advance to 3rd straight NBA Finals By Rodene Ivan B. Cortes PhilBoxing.com Tue, 04 Jun 2013 NEW YORK -- So much for drama. The Miami Heat took Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals in stunning fashion Monday night at the American Airlines Arena, crushing the Indiana Pacers, 99-76, to win the series 4-3 and advance to their third straight NBA Finals appearance. In the history of the NBA playoffs, home teams have now won 90 of 113 Game 7s. And this blowout was no surprise as LeBron James led the way with 32 points, eight rebounds and four assists. The four-time MVP had plenty of help, especially form sidekick Dwyane Wade, who came back to life with 21 points and nine rebounds. Ray Allen added ten with three big 3s. Chris Bosh finished with nine points and eight rebounds and Norris Cole and Chris "The Birdman" Andersen combined for 15. After trailing 21-19 at the end of the opening quarter, the Heat uncorked a 33-16 second quarter blitz that essentially put the game away. The defending champs applied more pressure defense in the third quarter and led by as many as 28 --- 91-63 --- with 5:30 left to play. Miami made 30 of 76 field goals, 6-of-16 triples and 33 of 38 free throws. And for the first time in seven games, the Heat outrebounded the Pacers, 43-36. Roy Hibbert, Indiana's towering 7-foot-2, 280-pound center, finished with 18 points and eight rebounds, but three fouls before halftime took away a lot of his effectiveness and aggressiveness. David West tallied with 14 points and six rebounds while Paul George, who fouled out with 7:43 remaining, settled with seven points on 2-for-9 shooting. George Hill had 13 and Lance Stephenson chipped in 10 for Indiana, which converted just 28 of 69 field goals. The Pacers made six of 20 threes, but they only shot 20 free throws, making 14. In the end, the 21 turnovers doomed the Pacers. "They taught us a lesson. The team has been there before. They have been to the championship. They've won it all. And they know how to ratchet it up their defense at a level that just imposes their will on a basketball game," Pacers head coach Frank Vogel said.
