NBA Draft -- Where is the No.1 pick going to land?

PhilBoxing.com

Nerlens Noel.
NEW YORK -- Nerlens Noel, the lanky center out of the University of Kentucky, is the projected No.1 pick when the 20013 NBA Draft takes place this June 27, 2013 at the Barclays Center, the luxurious $1 billion home of the Brooklyn Nets.

But while the Cleveland Cavaliers own the rights to the No.1 pick after winning the draft lottery last May 21, Noel might be going elsewhere.

"This is a valuable asset that we can add to the group, whether its in a trade or keep it and add a player," Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant told Brian Windhorst of ESPN. "You want to look at all your options and make the best decision for your team," Grant added.

If the Cavs indeed relinquish the rights to the top pick, it will be the first since 1993, when then No.1 pick Chris Webber was shipped by the Orlando Magic to the Golden State Warriors to acquire dynamic point guard Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway.

The Cavs decision to consider trading for Noel is made easier by the fact that the 6-foot-10, 206-pound prized catch is on the heels of a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) that he sustained last February 12 which effectively ended his college career. Prior to the mishap, the towering center averaged 10.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per game.

Boston is widely reported as a possible destination for Noel after he told reporters that Kevin Garnett is his favorite player and that Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is his "dream alley-oop partner."

Not so fast, though.

The Celtics only have a No.16 pick in the coming draft, which means they have a lot of work needed to pull a Noel heist.

Ultimately, Nerleans Noel's NBA destination lies in the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers. (DC)
