PhilBoxing.com

As scheduled, the first ever ALA Boxing Gym-Summit Natural Drinking Water Fight Night was held in Maasin City Tuesday at the Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal. The amateur boxing card is the first of a series of boxing bouts conducted by the Maasin City Sports Council and Southern Leyte Amateur Boxing Association in cooperation with ALA Gym and Summit.

The city sports council hopes to lure also the regular ALA-Cobra Professional Boxing to this city. Mr. Antonio L. Aldeguer has seen an extraordinary passion for boxing in this capital city of Southern Leyte. This was evidenced by the very huge enthusiastic crowd which flocked every boxing card.

Here are the results of the ALA-Summit Boxing Fight Night. Jay-R Bongan of Combado, Maasin won by points over Gil Forsado of Lib-og, Maasin. Donaire of San Rafael, Maasin prevailed by points over Roland Melorin of Combado. Anthony Cabil of Combado was victorious on points over Rubencio Diginion of Lib-og. David Makiling of Malitbog out pointed Rodel Estas of Maasin, while his brother Mateo Makiling defeated Joshua Orello on points.

Romie Evale of Combado won by referee stopped contest due to hard blow on Jerico Patrimonio of Rizal, Maasin. Monsour Grullo of Rizal out scored Romeo Bangot of Combado. Jeffry Orello of Maasin defeated Vincent Tiempo of Malitbog.

Cristitoto Samblacenyo of Matalom won by RSC over injured Bonryan Dalangin of Burgos. Cesar Bestudio of Cambooc, Maasin won by RSC over Jay-R Mangana of Burgos whose mouth was wounded.

The next ALA-Summit Boxing will be held on February 27 and this time the national tournament participants from Maasin will see action at the same venue. The January schedule did not push through because of the city's participation in the Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association meet in Tacloban City.

Boxers of Maasin City who will compete in the coming PLDT-ABAP National Amateur Boxing Championships did not fought to prevent possible injuries. The national championships will be held on February 17-22 at the Maasin City Gym.
