NBA -- Short-handed Warriors edge Mavericks By Ryan Medida PhilBoxing.com Sat, 02 Feb 2013 ![]() OAKLAND - In a nail-biting finish in front of 19,596 fans, the 12th straight sell-out here at the Oracle Arena, the Golden State Warriors tripped the visiting Dallas Mavericks, 100-97. The Warriors, who improved to 29-17, have posted winning records in the months of November, December and January. They are also 1-0 last October. Klay Thompson, who recorded a career-high 32 against the Cavaliers last Tuesay night at The Q iArena n Cleveland, was brilliant against the Mavs, leading all scorers with 27 points on a very efficient 11-for-18 shooting. For the second game in a row, Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry did not suit up due to a bad ankle. David Lee finished an assist short of a triple- double. Andrew Bogut's, in his second game since returning from the injury, was also a big factor for the Warriors despite limited playing time. Bogut had three blocked shots, including one when the Mavericks had a chance to win the game in the final seconds. O.J Mayo scored 25 points to lead the Mavs, who dropped their second straight. Vince Carter added 27 points and Shawn Marion had 18 as Dallas failed to reach a hundred points for the first time in 10 games. "We've been getting some tough calls lately, I'm going to stay out of that" Brandan Wright said, the former Warrior. Coach Carlisle added "The game came down to the call that wasn't made". "Wright got hit in the arm, and it's obvious. It's 2 nights in a row, it's tough to take, with as hard as our guys are fighting, to not be in the free throw line with a chance to go ahead with 6 seconds left in the game". The Dallas Mavericks (19-27) played without Dirk Nowitzki, who sat out with a aright adductor strain. NBA selected Klay Thompson along with Harrison Barnes to participate in the BBVA rising star challenge at the NBA All Star weekend in Houston on February 15th. Dallas is heading to the desert to face the Suns while the Warriors await for the Phoenix to visit Oracle Arena come Saturday.
