SHOGO SAKAI SIGNS TO FIGHT ?THE GREAT WHITE? BRAYD SMITH FOR WBF ASIA PACIFIC YOUTH TITLE PhilBoxing.com Tue, 22 Jan 2013 Japanese boxer Shogo Sakai has signed a contract to meet undefeated Toowoomba boxer ?The Great White? Brayd Smith for the vacant WBF Asia Pacific youth featherweight title on March 8 at Rumours International in Toowoomba. This will be the first time either fighter will have contested a title fight and Brayd Smith says he is excited about the learning curve ahead. ?I am very excited to be given the opportunity to fight for the WBF Asia Pacific title in the youth category,? said Smith. ?This is the first time I will fight for a title in my professional career and I can?t wait to experience the hype that comes with a title fight. It is going to be another great learning curve for me and another step towards where I want to be?. Both fighters will head into this bout with high confidence as Shogo Sakai is coming off two knockout victories in the second and third round, while Smith is on a roll with 5 straight wins with 4 by KO. As well as fighting for the WBF Asia Pacific Youth featherweight title, Smith will have an opportunity to showcase his skills against an opponent with the same amount of experience. ?This is an even match,? said Promoter Brendon Smith, also the trainer and manager of Brayd Smith. ?Shogo is only two years older than Brayd so it will be great for him to test the level he is at against someone of similar age and experience?. This fight will be the main event of ?Smithy Brings the Big Fights 3? card scheduled for March 8 at Rumours International in Toowoomba. Also on the card is local cruiserweights Josh Webb Vs Dale Ryan, English Import Darren Askew Vs Brett John Smith as well as undefeated prospect Kris George and ?Iron? Will Young.
