ENGLISHMAN DARREN ASKEW BEGINS HIS AUSTRALIAN CAMPAIGN WITH BRETT JOHN SMITH ON MARCH 8

PhilBoxing.com

English import Darren Askew is set to begin his campaign on the Australian boxing circuit after securing his opponent for his March 8 showdown on ?Smithy Brings the big fights 3? at Rumours International in his new home town of Toowoomba.

He will take on Queensland?s Brett John Smith in what Askew has described himself as a very even match.

?This is a 50/50 fight. It?s a very even match and I need to bring my A game if I want to walk away with the win,? said Askew.
Holding a record of 5 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw (with 2 wins by KO), Brett John Smith has been in with some of Australia?s best.
?Brett is an honest fighter who has a wealth of experience,? said Brendon Smith, trainer and manager of Darren Askew.
?He is a hot and cold fighter however we are expecting the best Brett Smith on the night and Darren is preparing as such to come away with the win.?

Also a confirmed match for the night is local cruiser weight Josh Webb who will be going toe to toe with the rough and tough Dale Ryan.

Webb is coming off a narrow points loss to Andrew Pollock in his last outing in Townsville and will be looking for vengeance against Ryan who now trains out of Richo?s Boxing gym also in Toowoomba.

?Dale has had a hard intense training regime over Christmas and will be in peak condition come March 8?, said trainer Brett Richards.

?He has a rough and tough fighting style with plenty of power and a wealth of experience and he will be ready for anything Josh throws at him?.

These fights will be apart of the ?Smithy Brings the big fights 3? card set to take place at Rumours International in Toowoomba on March 8. Also featuring on the card is undefeated Kris George, ?Iron? Will Young and undefeated featherweight ?The Great White? Brayd Smith with opponents to be announced. There will also be a host of local amateur stars featuring on the undercard.

Tickets are $75 for ringside and $45 for general and are available now at Smithy?s Gym.
