SERGIO THOMPSON BEGINS 2013 CAMPAIGN AGAINST MOISES CASTRO ON JANUARY 19 IN VILLA HERMOSA, MEXICO

PhilBoxing.com

ROBINSON CASTELLANOS AND EDGAR RAMIREZ MEET IN CO-MAIN EVENT WHICH WILL BE TELEVISED ON FOX DEPORTES IN THE UNITED STATES & ON TELEVISA IN MEXICO

DEONTAY WILDER AND IVAN MORALES IN ACTION ON UNDERCARD

LOS ANGELES, January 16 - Mexico's hottest contender Sergio "Yeyo" Thompson, hopes to get 2013 off to a spectacular start against Nicaragua's veteran Moises Castro in a 12-round fight for Thompson's WBC Silver International Super Featherweight Title which will be televised on FOX Deportes in the United States and on Televisa in Mexico on Saturday, January 19 from La Nave Del Parque in Villa Hermosa, Mexico.

Plus, Mexican featherweights throw down when Celaya's Robinson Castellanos takes on Sonora's Edgar Ramirez in a 12-round fight for Castellanos' WBC Silver Featherweight Title in the co-feature. Also featured in non-televised undercard action will be undefeated heavyweight contender Deontay "Bronze Bomber" Wilder taking on Matt Greer of Parkville, Missouri in an eight-round fight and unbeaten Ivan Morales battling Guasave's Patricio Camacho (13-7-1, 10 KO's) in an eight-round bantamweight bout.

Thompson vs. Castro is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and and Pepe Gomez Promotor Deportivo and sponsored by Corona, Periodico QueQui, Grand Oasis Cancun, the State of Tabasco, and Quintana Roo Tourism. Doors open at 6:00pm CT and the first fight begins at 6:30pm CT. The Televisa broadcast will air on Canal 5 at 10:30 p.m. CT and the FOX Deportes broadcast will air on Sunday, January 27 at 6:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. PT.

Closing in on his long-awaited world title shot, Cancun's Sergio "Yeyo" Thompson (24-2, 22 KO's) hopes to keep his nine-fight knockout streak intact on January 19. Having gone four for four in 2012 with wins over former World Champion Jorge "El Nino De Oro" Linares, Juan Ramon Solis, Carlos Claudio and Luis Armando Juarez, the 29-year-old Thompson has put the 130-pound weight class on notice that he's not leaving 2013 without gold strapped around his waist.

Coming to Mexico with the intention of spoiling Thompson's run to the title is 34-year-old southpaw Moises "La Cobra" Castro (29-19-4, 13 KO's). The winner of two straight, the native of Managua, Nicaragua has the experience and determination to give Thompson the fight of his life in Villa Hermosa.

30-year-old Robinson "Robin Hood" Castellanos (16-9, 10 KO's) had a rough start to his professional career in 2002, but by the time he knocked out Hugo Morales in December of 2010, he had turned the corner, kicking off an eight-fight winning streak that has seen him crowned with the WBC Silver Featherweight Title. Fellow veteran Edgar "Pito" Ramirez (13-6, 12 KO's) has been on a hot streak of his own though, winning 10 in a row, a string that includes nine knockout wins, all in four rounds or less. On January 19, this power puncher expects to put an end to Castellanos' remarkable comeback by extending his own.

2008 U.S. Olympic Bronze Medalist Deontay Wilder (26-0, 26 KO's) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama has quickly become turned into one of the toughest young contenders in the heavyweight division. The 6-foot-7 "Bronze Bomber" has been a force to be reckoned with knocking out every opponent he has faced including Damon McCreary, Owen Beck, Kertson Manswell and most recently Kelvin Price. The 27-year-old knows that if he keeps knocking out his foes, a world title shot won't be too far away, but first he has to get past Greer on January 19.

The brother of the legendary Erik "Terrible" Morales, Ivan "Terrible II" Morales (19-0, 12 KO's) has been impressive in his professional career thus far, staying active and improving with each fight. Just 21, Morales went 4-0 in 2012 and he plans on being even more active and efficient in 2013 beginning on January 19 against Camacho.
