NBA -- Super Mario sizzles, Heat wins by 29

SACRAMENTO -- Since making the jump from college to the Miami Heat, Mario Chalmers has always been a good point guard, but not great. Saturday night at the Sleep Train Arena, he was spectacular.
The 6-foot-2 Kansas University alum swished 12-of-16 field goals for 34 points and led the Miami Heat to a 128-99 rout of the reeling Sacramento Kings. Chalmers, a four-year pro, drilled 10-of-13 threes and topped his 30-minute performance with three assists, two rebounds and a pair of steals.
Determined to snap a two-game losing skid, the Heat played like they were in a hurry to leave town. They jumped to a 14-2 start and scored 38 second quarter points to seize a 66-44 halftime lead. Miami lit 37 more points in the third quarter and by then the Kings were pretty much done.
"From the first two minutes to the last two minutes, we didn't have a chance. We didn't play hard, we weren't ready to play, and we just got our (butts) kicked," Kings stalwart Tyreke Evans, who struggled with eight points, told the Sacramento Bee.
Although the Heat's resident superstars happily surrendered the limelight to Chalmers, the Big Three still inflicted significant damage as Miami improved its record to 24-11, the best in the Eastern Conference over the slumping 23-13 New York Knicks.
LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh combined for 47 points, 14 rebounds and 19 assists. Mike Miller had 12 and Ray Allen added 10.
Diminutive point guard Isaiah Thomas popped 34 points for the Kings, who lost four in a row and dropped to 13-24. (AMJR)
