THE OTHER MARQUEZ -- VILORIA?S FOE

PhilBoxing.com

Tyson Marquez. Manny Pacquiao and Brian Viloria have one thing in common. They will face a Marquez as their next opponent. Juan Manuel will face Pacquiao for the fourth time on December 8 and Hernan ?Tyson? will slug it out with Viloria earlier on November 17.

Both Mexicans are not related to each other though. ?Tyson? was born in Sonora, Mexico while ?Dinamita? hails from Mexico City. Hernan is nicknamed ?Tyson? because of his aggressive style and hard-hitting stance like the former undisputed world heavyweight champion Iron Mike Tyson.

WBA world flyweight champion Marquez has 34 wins 2 losses and 25 KO wins. He suffered his two losses curiously from Filipino opponents Nonito Donaire and Richie Mepranum. ?Hawaiian Punch? Viloria, the WBO world flyweight champion, has a record of 31-3-0 with 18 KO wins.

Marquez fought on his professional debut on October 21, 2005 with a unanimous decision win over Noe Acosta. On July 25, 2009, he defeated Juan Escuer for the WBC USNBC title with a unanimous decision.

Marquez emerged victorious in his next two fights before losing to Mepranum via a 10 round unanimous decision. He moved up to the super flyweight division to face Donaire for the interim WBA super flyweight title but lost via an 8th round knockout.

?Tyson? reduced weight to confront WBA world champion Luis Concepcion. He defeated Concepcion by an 11th round technical knockout and became a world champion at the tender age of 22. In that classic bout, Marquez survived from a first round fall to knock the champion down in that same round. He was able to floor Concepci?n in the third and tenth round before stopping him in the eleventh.

In his first title defense, he defeated Edrin Dapudong by a third round knockout. His second defense was a rematch with Concepcion. He won convincingly by a TKO in round 1 after scoring three knockdowns over his arch foe.

Marquez ended the toughest stage of his training last Thursday and ?was reported ready and in excellent physical and mental condition to face the biggest fight of his career,? reported Rafael Soto of Boxing Scene.

Both champions have a high stake during the coming unification bout. A victory to either boxer would mean a chance for more lucrative fights with big time opponents.

Marquez trains under Robert Garcia in Oxnard, California with an array of strong sparring partners and an excellent strength coach. He underwent two training sessions in the afternoon as he hopes to toughen his body and strengthen his endurance according to Interaksyon.

Garcia said Marquez won?t have weight problems as earlier reported and could make it to the flyweight limit of 112 lbs since his weight is properly monitored by expert coaches and trainers.
