GLENN DONAIRE HAS TWO FAILED NEGOTIATIONS WITH ROMAN GONZALEZ; READY FOR SEP 14 DATE WITH OMAR SOTO By Anthony 'Duljoman' Andales PhilBoxing.com Sat, 01 Sep 2012 Mt. Pleasant, SC ? Two weeks from now Glenn ?The Filipino Bomber? Donaire will continue his quest to become a world champion. For his 3rd comeback fight the WBC Flyweight / SuperFlyweight Latino Champion will fight the 32 year old former world challenger Omar ?Lobito? Soto of Hidalgo, Mexico. Glenn told philboxing.com that he is just under 120lbs right now and there will be no problem achieving the 112lbs weight limit. He runs 5 miles in the morning and do strength training with Kennel Gym CEO Arvin Jugarap. After a strenuous morning activity Glenn delights with Nanay Imelda?s cuisine. Glenn said he always looks forward after morning training because he knows Nanay is preparing something delicious. Glenn added, ?human sa training higup sa sabaw nga luto ni Mama (after training I slurp soup prepared by my mother)." Glenn rests afterwards, take a nap and pick up the kids at school. He will then be ready for some serious training with Dad in the evening (Dad works in the morning). He usually spar with 2 guys, 8 and 9 rounds each. Glenn also informed that he almost had a chance to challenge the diminutive mini flyweight champion Roman Chocolatito Gonzales of Nicaragua. They had 2 failed discussions so far. Gonzalez?s matchmaker contacted Team Donaire that they wanted Glenn to be their opponent on September 29 but that did not push through. Team Gonzalez contacted Team Donaire again, this is for the same date September 29 but this time Team Gonzalez said that Donaire might not make it to 108 lbs and talks failed again. I asked Glenn if he wanted that fight. He said for a chance to fight for the world championship he will go down to 108 lbs. It's gonna be hard but he will make that fight if it did push through. In case you don?t know who Chocolatito is, that is not an easy fight for Glenn, Chocolatito is one of the most entertaining fighters in the lower division. He is the current WBA light flyweight champion. Chocolatito KO?d 27 of his 32 opponents and he mostly fights in Japan and Mexico. His first fight in the US was against Hirales of Mexico whom he demolished in 4 rounds few months ago. The same Hirales who gave our very own champion Donnie Nietes a 12 action packed rounds in Bacolod City last year. Rated #3 WBA, #6WBO, #14WBC, Glenn Donaire said he will do everything to keep his ratings and maybe challenge the winner of WBO championship fight of Marquez and Viloria if given a chance. The September 14 (Friday) date with Soto will be held at A La Carte Event Pavilion, Tampa, Florida. The fight is for the WBO NABO Flyweight championships. Oh!BeerTime? Talked to Jermain Taylor?s cousin, my good friend Corey, he said that Jermain?s next fight will be Oct. 12, opponent is still TBD though? A Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol in your front court? I will agree with the reigning West Coast champ Durant, The Lakers is very scary on papers, I?m not mentioning the black mamba, the World Peace and the 2 time back to back NBA MVP Steve Nash, if you guys not scared on the papers, I don?t know what to say? congratulations to the 2012 Jones Cup winners, Team Pilipinas headed by small but gutsy Tenorio, now we?re only behind to USA?s 15 championships, we got 4 championships (1981, 1984, 1998 and 2012), 3rd is Iran they got 3, but that is a 3-peat guys (from 2009 thru 2011) how about that!... honestly, aren?t you guys tired of Manny fighting the same guys, can we bring somebody else? For sure if Manny is fighting Bradley, PPV can?t fool me twice in a row! I am not endorsing that fight! Against Cotto? I already seen that one! Against Marquez? Maybe I?ll watch if it is gonna be in Mexico!!! Viva! Yohoo!!! Seriously, I?d rather pair Manny with some new faces! Arum please give patrons a chance to watch a killer fightcard!... lastly, I am happy for my Kumpadre AJ Banal, give it all on Oct. 20 pre! KUMBATEA! duljoman@gmail.com.
