Chou, 6-4, in Group 7 to advance to the next round of the ongoing WPA (World Pool-Billiard Association) 4th Annual Yalin Women's World 10-Ball Championship yesterday at the Robinson's Galleria in Ortigas. The win gave Cebuana ace Amit a 3-0 slate in the single round group eliminations among eight players to clinch a spot in the Last 24 of the annual event featuring the world?s leading cuemasters. ?Chou is strong but I played better at endgame,? said Amit, top player of Philippine Billiards God Father Aristeo "Putch" Puyat. She beat B.R. Jung of Korea, 6-2, and K.Yukawa of Japan, 6-1, in the earlier round. "My main target is to win my remaining games for a possible automatic slot in the Final 16," added Amit, who also won Women's World 10-Ball Championship four years ago. Amit schedule to play Y.T. Chan of Chinese-Taipei and I.Helvik of Norway in the $21,000 top prize event backed up by Asian table mammoth Yalin Billiards, advanced cue engineer OB Cues, long lasting Championship Tour Edition Cloth, top playing Aramith Balls, and #1 TV network broadcaster ABS-CBN. Star Billiards and Pool & Billiard Magazine are also proud supporters. 13-year-old Cheska Centeno of Zamboanga City bounced back after a sorry loss to Yu Ram Cham of Korea by edging A. Mazhirina of Russia, 6-5, that gave her a 3-1 slate in Group 1. Yu, on the other hand dominating Group 1 with a 4-0 clean slate. Actually, Centeno took a 2-0 commanding lead against Yu before the latter's (Yu Ram Cha) won the next six racks for a come-from-behind 6-2 victory. However, another Filipino entry Iris Ranola kiss her goodbye in the next round after absorbing another setback at the hands of S. M. Chen of China, 6-0. The World no.2 Chen topped Group 4 with a 4-1 slate and advance to the Final 16. "More power to our outstanding candidates in the like of (Rubilen) Amit and Cheska (Centeno)," said Carson, California based Pinoy Oscar Sibal. "The whole nation is behind you," added Sibal, who skipped his busy schedule here in Manila to give support to our Filipino athletes. Other notable cue masters who made it to the Final 24 are defending champion Kelly Fisher of Great Britain (3-1 in Group 1) and 2010 World 10-ball kingpin Jasmin Ouschan of Austria (3-0 in Group 2).
